I posted earlier about this. I've noticed lately I've been having alot more good days then bad. Take today for instance, The problem with my throat is almost unnoticable. In the past couple of months I've noticed I've been having about 2 good weeks for every 1 bad. Hopefully it will start a trend:) (of course everytime I get upbeat I run into a bad week).

Glad to hear that. Hopefully, this will be the norm for you. It is nice to hear some positive stuff on here. I think once people start feeling better they resume their life and don't come on here. I am new to this site so I don't know your story. Care to share it again?

Sure, I started having bad reflux about 6 or 7 months ago. It would come up when I slept, it would come up when I bent over, my throat was sore all the time. Eventually I eliminated all bad foods (by this I mean junk food of all kind, soda etc.) but I'm still eating everything else. Over time the reflux started to back off and for the past 3 or 4 months it's only come up when I sleep. I've tried PPI's but they have bad side effects for me (nightmares, dry mouth, stomach hurts). I only take 1 or 1 and a half Pepcid completes when I go to bed (1 when I sleep and 1/2 if I wake up in middle of night). I've also switched my high blood pressure medicine but thats only been less then a week so I'm waiting to see if that has any effect. I've been feeling improved that tonight I'm going back to exercising which I haven't done in 6 months because reflux comes up, will see what happens there.

hey neddy - that's so great! i want to add to your good news. i've been having relief of symptoms too. i'm not really sure what i'm doing differently - i stopped taking the probiotics and enzymes a few weeks ago. i'm not taking anything now and am eating most everything i used to eat - even had a few raw tomatoes yesterday. acid reflux is such a mystery. i don't know what causes the bad spells, but they do go away - i've heard that from many people - almost like going into remission or something. so could it be a virus that goes dormant for a time? does something in our body chemistry change? is it seasonal? or an allergy? or a food intolerance that has to work itself out of our systems? or a pinched nerve in our spines that relaxes? or........? it's just all so weird but i celebrate the relief of symptoms with you!!!! there's hope for everyone out there - what starts suddenly and mysteriously can also disappear suddenly and mysteriously. keep the faith.

I had it 15 years ago and it just went away. If it goes away again and takes 15 years to come back I can live with that. A friend of mine who has it is now going on 4 weeks without any symptoms at all so I'm hoping mine goes away to. Of course I thought it was going away before then I was hit with it hard so you never know. Right now though it's livable. taking pepcid complete before going to bed and a half of one when I wake up in middle of night, this seems to really be helping. My throat problems are at a bare minimum.

well whatever causes it does seem to work its way out. our bodies do not want to hurt and are continually working to stay healthy. i think we all need to keep focused on that. our bodies are alot more wise than our conscious minds. let's all keep affirming that thought. if we could never again think of our body as wrong, and instead just think pleasant thoughts of its wisdom, our body will reclaim its natural place of wellness.

One other thing, don't do what I did. I was feeling so good that yesterday I ate a chicken sandwich smothered with BBQ sauce. Damn was it good. For the first time in weeks I had reflux coming up when I slept, even though I took a pepcid complete. I won't do that again for awhile.

hmm, well, i suppose the only way you find out your limits is to test them. don't get discouraged because it probably does take a few days for everything to totally settle down. like healing a sprain - can't do too much all at once. its fantastic though, that you can see signs of improvement. personally, i think our bodies crave what they need to heal so maybe you needed that sandwich and in the long run it will have helped you to eat it.
