Hi, I'm 17 years old and I've been having problems with my knee since I was 14 years old. The problem is that I've been clicking it many times a day every day for the three years and my friend, who's mum is a physiotherapist, keep telling me I'm going to get arthritis and I am really afraid of this as I understand it can be very painful. But the problem is that I find it incredibly hard to stop clicking it because I find if I don't it gets incredibly uncomfortable and it just gets worse until I finally have to click it. I don't know what to do about it, sometimesI click it so many times a day but I can't help it. Any advice? =) thank you

Your friend's mom is right -- don't over use your knee joint or it will wear out. I would recommend that you go see your family doctor to talk about this and get checked out.

I went to see the doctor about half a year after it started happening and he didn't make anything of it and just said it will go away after a while which it hasn't after 3 years. I'm pretty sure he'll just say the same thing and I'm not really sure what he could do about it anyway. I'm really dreading what will happen about it, it's really hard not to click it because of how uncomfortable it is. I don't know what to do.

what are you doing to click it? Depending on your answer there might not be a problem at all. I have seen people post on this board that there knee's clicked for the last 20 years and they still don't have pain.
