My right foot has been hurting only when I walk on it. It's on the outside of the foot and goes from the little toe to the edge of the heel. It hurts on the side and top and bottom. The heel doesn't hurt at all. And the rest of the foot is fine. And the foot doesn't hurt except when I walk on it. Changing shoes doesn't seem to help. I tried doing some stretches and using ice and heat and that doesn't help either. I havn't done anything to injure it- no falls or bumps. Just started hurting one day. Anyone have any ideas on what this is?

I have diagnosed plantar faciitis (PF) and when mine acts up my pain is along the outside of my foot....the typical range of pain for PF is the heal, but like I said mine is in the same area you are describing, and during injury/flair ups, it only hurts when I walk on it....its worst in the morning!!

My worst flair up lasted for about 2 weeks....I iced it as much as I could, and stayed off my foot when possible...and eventually the injury healed.

I have arch supports in my sneakers which also helped a lot.

I am recovering from bunion surgery at the moment, so my PF is the least of my worries....but the ice and rest during the bad days are the best (stretching before getting out of bed helps tremendously too).

If you are concerned, it won't hurt to go see a podiatrist or orthapedist....they can examine you and tell you exactly whats causing the pain.

I was sort of wondering if the pain could be in a different place than the typical heel pain. Thanks. I'll check with my dr. next time I go in.

I have PF in both feet (according to my podiatrist).

I have pain all over the place. Heel, arches, balls of feet, even the outside of the foot. When it gets really bad I get tightness and cramping in the calves.

The only thing that helped was total bed rest. I was off my feet for a few days and saw a 90% reduction in symptoms. I felt good for 10 days or so, but then the problems started coming back.
