Well guys, My fusion was last Wedensday. Sorry it took so long to write. I was in a lot of pain and now Im doing a lot better. I have been so depressed from sitting on my bootie. Im so sore from just sitting. Noone really knows how painful it is to be lazy. I would never sit like this healthy.
My surgery went well. My Dr said when he got in there, there was no cartlidge at all there. I have a huge incision and WOW it's nasty looking. I didnt expect it to look like this at all. I did get a shower yesterday and loved it. How long does this swelling last? My Dr put me in a aircast (which I can't get on from pain) And said I could walk on my heel. NOT..... That's not going to happen for a while. Anyhow if anyone can help me with how long the pain lasts, and how long the swelling lasts also.
Thanks Lisa

glad your surgery is over. swelling is different for everyone. keep elevated and i know how hard it is to be lazy-but we really are not. we have to heal so do what the dr says so you can go back to normal activity. debbie g

Hi, glad you're feeling better. I know it's hard to just sit around, I've been doing it for 3/4 of a year:dizzy: ! But you're just one week post-op, by the second or third week the pain should diminish enough for you to wear the air cast.
I'm 4 wks post-op from my second surgery (same foot) and I'm just now able to wear mine. My first surgery was in August and my foot was still swollen 6 months later when I had my second. Amazingly, I hardly have any swelling this time. Then again, I've not gotten off my butt and had my foot elevated almost 24/7.
debbie g is right, everybody's different... keep it elevated and iced and rent some movies, catch up on your reading, try to exercise your upper body... and try to be patient. J.

"I'm so sore from just sitting." Fooie5 ~ If your tailbone is hurting from pressure on it while sitting with your feet up, I recommend getting an innertube to sit in-- Really helped me! Hope your recovery goes well-- and quickly.
