I just recently had a podiatrist make custom orthotic insoles for my shoes. I've been wearing them for about two weeks, and I still find them uncomfortable. The doc said they'd be uncomfortable for a while. I have a cousin who got orthotics, who advised me to gradually break myself in to them by wearing them for 1 hour one day, 2 hours the next, etc... I haven't gotten around to trying that yet, because once I get to work, I'm too involved in work to think about changing shoes or removing the orthotics from them.
Does anyone have advice or experiences they can share with me on this?

Your cousin gave you good advice. Some people are able to adapt fairly quickly to orthotics and others have to take a more gradual approach. Sounds like you fall into the later group.

I had custom orthotics made also. I agree with you on how uncomfortable they are. The doc also recommended breaking them in slowly. I will tell you that I never was able to become comfortable with them. The pain I was experiencing never went away...in fact, it began to increase. I finally broke down and scheduled surgery. Why did your doc prescribe the orthotics? What type of trouble are you having?
