Lately i have been having a lot of anxiety attacks at strange places one of them being when i get my hair cut! ;) ;)

I know it sounds dumb but yesterday while waiting for my turn at supercut i felt like i was going to a gas chamber, once in the chair i started getting better but i was still feeling in between. I never had this problem before so i am wondering do other people get it too and it is due to our stomach problem or what?

btw: i did get bloodwork done 2 mos back and my thyroid level is normal.

Hi GI..Anxiety can be a huge part of this disease. I know for me it really plays a huge part in how I feel. I can't tell you which one comes first for me, sometimes I feel it is like the chicken and the egg...
I find that if I breath through my nose(not my mouth) and really focus I can make it through, but I still have the physical pain from the GERD after the anxiety is gone.
Hope you feel better soon!

well for me chewing gum helps a lil for me to get my job done and get out, but i want to face this problem instead of fleeing cause then it will just get worse.

so do you guys gather your courage and face it or turn to medication? i dont want to do meds at all cause thats another problem by itself.

Has anybody gotten over their GERD and their anxiety symptoms dissapear?

I have been on Protonix for over a year. Normally 1 pill in the morning does a good job of controlling the GERD. However, when it is really bad the Protonix only makes it bearable. For me anxiety is the key. The GERD normally follows times of high stress or anxiety.

I've been dealing with mild anxiety pretty much all my life and as far back as I can remember I've had reflux, even as a child. It wasn't until my anxiety got bad nearly 2 years ago that my reflux got worse. Now I'm on Prilosec twice a day. I don't take anything for anxiety, I just try to ease the stress I'm under. I have 3 family members who also have anxiety and every one of them have reflux but nobody else in the family does. So for me, definitely reflux and anxiety go hand-in-hand.

Well if it is part of the package then the main culprit would be Anxiety, So wouldnt it be better to prescribe medication for the root cause instead of Acid reflux?
