I have heard of it but not much. I don't think it is as dangerous as you might be fearing and i believe it is relatively common.

Keep us posted and wishing you luck.

I do not know if this is related or not, but last year I was told I had a fatty tumor on my left ovary. They called it a dermoid tumor. Apparently these are quite common, at least according to my gyno and can happen anywhere. I had mine out because of where it was and the problems it could cause my ovary. I do not know if this helps, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Hi, Tlily,
I hope you're feeling better by now. I just joined Healthboard and read your posting. Was it a lipoma? My sister has a fatty tumor on her liver which, as she put it, "sounds highly unattractive but is actually innocuous." She's doing fine and has had no health problems from it. Hope that helps.

Hi Tlily! I will give you a very accurate info about fatty tumor on a kidney since my daugheter was diagnosed with 2 of them. It was discovered during her pregnancy. The name Fatty Tumor does not mean it made from fat (only if it related to kidney). Actually it made from a very big ball of blood vessels. It has to be checked evey 6 month by Ultrasound if it is not growing. In most cases it is not cancerous and may never become a cancer, but sometimes it does (about 3% of people). But the most dangerous thing about it: bleeding. Someone can i loose their life if the bleeding will not be determine on time. Her Doctor told her that if she gets any pain in kidney/stomach area immediately get to the ER and have Ultrasound done to check for bleeding. This is what you have to watch for. But thank to Ultrasounds; if tumor will grow than they have to do biopsy, because than it can change to melingnancy.
Good luck to you and let me know where are you know with your diagnoses and prognoses. It is good to share, that how you learn a lot too.
