I was just recently diagnosed with hep c and next month will have liver biopsy and will probably start treatment soon after. have seen a lot that people on treatment start having skin problems. Do these problems go away after tx stops and should i worry about being around my grandchildren if i get skin problems?

Hi Deb,
first of all, you can't be a lot more crazy than many of the rest of us here.
second, as one who had TERRIBLE rashes on tx, i can say it goes away, almost entirely, within a month or so off the meds. some effect lingers for longer.
many people get no skin problem to speak of. for others it varies. in fact, the whole smorgasbord of reactions or side effects differs widely across many individuals. for almost any side effect you can find some folks who suffered greatly with it, some who never noticed anything.
so, don't assume the worst--you may well be among the luckier ones.
now, what i don't understand is the connection to your grandchildren. these rashes are not communicable in any sense. they are most similar to allergic (that is, auto-immune) reactions. in fact, i treated mine with a benadryl tablet at night and cortisone ointments every several hours throughout the day--just what a person would do for a bad case of allergic dermatitis.
hope this helps

Does anyone here have sores that look like chicken pox all over your body? I am NOT on treatments and never have been. These things itch. Also I cannot sleep well the last week. It takes FOREVER to fall asleep. Help is this Hep C related?

Hi.
My itchiness and dryness were under control after using anti-breakage conditioner in my hair. I made sure to get it all over my body and not to wash it all off. It did wonders :)
