My friend told me that you are not supposed to wash your hair for at least 24 hours after a highlight / touch up? Is that true...my hairdresser never told me that?

I've never had highlights, but I get my hair colored and I follow the 24-hour rule as per my hairdresser.

I believe that is true. Then you should get a good conditioner such as Paul Mitchell deep reconstruction. Bleach is so hard on the hair. I would know..my hairdresser messed my hair up horribly by leaving the bleaching formula on to long. What a mess I had. Had to get it re-done by someone a bit more professional. It's really dry but at least it's not a horrible color anymore. Live and learn. AGAIN! lol.

Not all of my hair stylists have told me either! I usually wait anyway b/c I try to keep the style they give me for the next day or so. My hair stylist has been putting big curls all over my hair and it looks too pretty to wash it right away! It takes her a while to curl it all and I usually don't have the time to do that on my own most days.

Its always best to try to not wash it for as many days as you can stand. Even if the last day you decide to leave it unwashed, if it looks oily you can try sprinkling some baby powder in your brush to absorb some of the oil. Your natural oils will help your hair a lot after the damage being done by the chemicals. I know it might sound kind of gross, but its just better for your hair.
