Hey everyone! My name is Reem. 20 year old female and am new here.
Ever since I was young I had a really sensitive stomach. Everything and anything would upset it and I'd always be in pain. Over the past few years it' been really good and normal and just recently 4 months ago I would feel pressure on my stomach, have a hard time breathing, hard time swalllowing, would constantly burp and anytime I'd eat it would feel as if im going to choke or that my food wouldn't go down properly. I ignored it for awhile thinking it was just going to be an off and on situation. Well a few months ago I went to an ENT because I had a bad cold and had some throat/ear pain. He put a tube down in my throat and said that I have a bit of Acid Reflux. I was surprised by this because I didn't even go in for that reason but he saw that anyway. He then gave me prevacid and told me to take it for a month and see how that works. I took it and it did a great job BUT I felt extremely weird. It got the job done but it constantly made me go to the bathroom..and I just wasn't fond of the way it was making me feel. I then stopped talking it and just recently all my symptoms are coming back.
Here's my question: If you have a bit of acid reflux does that mean you'll have it for life? Also, does breathing problems relate to Acid Reflux? I constantly have to take a deep breath and grasp. It's bothering the hell outta me. Some days I feel normal and anothers very uncomfortable. Should I go back to the Doc and have him check me again? I'd go to a Gastro but I don't want to go through all of that when I know an ENT can do the same for me. Another thing, what do you guys think is the best medicine for this? Are there any temporary home remedies?
Thanks!!

If you feel your food is constantly getting stuck, you might want to see a gastro and get an endoscopy or pressure tests done. I've taken acid reflux medicine, but it never stops the food from getting stuck.

Seeing a gastro doc is still thebest thing to do as he can see the extent of your reflux (they classify it by grade) and can give you the proper meds...anyways just a question.... how was it when the ENT doc insterted the tube? is it painful? I have bad case of LPR and constantly dizzy and having painful ear and pressure in the head.. I am already on PPI for 3 months, my stomach felt a lot better but the pressure in my head and other symptoms regarding breathing is still here.. I am already taking antibiotic which is helping somehow I think but I still feel downright terrible everyday.. cant even go out. I am thinkng an ENT can help me.. but I havent any experience in seeing one... can you tell me what its like? thanks :)

chikkie14, going to the ENT and getting the tube down my throat wasn't really all that bad! he didn't have to numb me or anything and it took like a minute at the most! If you fell you need to see an ENT then definitely do it! It's not painful at all.

But can the ENT do me any good? My throat and ear pain is so bad.. I dontknow if this is whats causing me to be drowsy and giddy all the time...I just want to rid of this feeling and the pressure on my head :dizzy:

i can second Hockeyfan - the ENT scope was not bad at all - I never thought I'd be one to tolerate all these invasive tests and stuff, but now it's like no big deal. amazing what you get used to. the tube is small. the worst part of anything is our minds making hay of the unknown.
