I had 3 screws put in when I had the bunion surgery. The Dr. wants to remove them at about 5/6 months. I thought these screws were permanent.
He says they would create weak spots.
Any opinions on this??

Hi - maybe it depends where in your foot they are. I had one external pin that was through the top of my foot that was removed at 6 weeks but I have one "permanent" screw that is in the first metatasul at the joint closest to my ankle that he said would stay in unless it bothered me. I'm only at 5 1/2 months now and it doesn't bother me. Sometimes I can feel the head of it when I rub my foot but it doesn't bother me to walk or anything.
Where are your pins? Foot or toes? How do you feel about having them come out?
