i really am trying and i know i have gained quite a bit of weigh but my problem is when i start eating i just want to eat and eat will this feeling ever go away so i can eat at normal times and normal amounts . physcally i look better mentally it is torture cos my brain does not want me to get better and eat and when i am alone i just feel guilty for all i have eaten. i am holding water too which makes it so much harder. it is strange eating feeling full and being warm it feels as if my blood is warm instead of me constantl;y feeling cold.

Congratulations on taking a big step!

Recovery is tough, and your appetite can be weird early into recovery...sometimes, I would have no appetite, other times, I'd be ravenous. It did even out with time especially once about 6 months had gone by with my weight stable and eating normal amounts. I did start getting hungry and full more normally.

You will hold on to water weight when you begin recovery, unfortunately. It does happen but it does eventually go away and your weight will stabilize.

Are you seeing a therapist right now? Maybe she (or he) could give you coping strageties to help deal with the guilt after eating. If you are not seeing a therapist and dietician, I strongly recommend that you do.

You can do this! :blob_fire :blob_fire

onetruefriend,

I've found myself in the exact same position many, many times before. I crave, I crave, I crave and I wonder when that will finally go away. The truth is, it definitely gets easier. As you feed yourself and give into your cravings, they will wane. You will NOT keep eating and eating for the rest of your life (well, you will keep eating for the rest of your life, but not excessively) and you will not become huge! I PROMISE you that!

I am constantly worried about gaining weight uncontrollably, but the truth is, your body will even out as soon as it feels satisfied. Cravings come exactly from what you NEED and as long as you give your body what you NEED, you will not have such strong cravings.

Give yourself a break for a while - give into those cravings and ENJOY what you are eating. Don't let your mind imagine ridiculous outcomes...just let yourself be.

Good luck...let us know how it goes!

hello,
i totally understand where your coming from, and its iwerd to acatully eat when you are hungry and keep eaitng till your full. and sometimes its hard to knwo the difference betweeen the two. but i guess thats the learning process of this whole recovery thing! but i retain water alot too and i found just not drinkifg anything or smoking a cigarette( i knwo its bad!) or walking around helps with that. and yes give into cravings once in awhile, then you wont want it so bad the rest of the time haha! well good luck and take care we can do this!!
