What's wrong with me? I've been slowly but steadily losing weight for over a year by watching calorie intake. I joined a gym about a month ago and mostly do cardio. Weekends I relax my diet a little, so on Mondays I weigh a little more.
A week ago Monday I was a little more than the week before. And tis morning I weighed a little more than last Monday. The end of last week my weight had gone down, but was still higher than the week before. I'm terrified that I might be getting onto a pattern of uncontrollably gaining weight. My diet, calorie intake, and exercise routine have not changed. Why is my weight going up? Is this normal? I'm feeling bloated and am so frustrated!

Muscle weighs more than fat. So if you have ben lifiting weights the numbers will go up on the scale. Go by how your clothes fit not by what the scale says.
I started off in a 10 shoudl have really been in a 12 but refused to but that size. I weighed 160 lbs. Now I wear a loose size 8 but weight 162 lbs. I am 5 foot 7 I could give a rats butt what the scale reads. Even when I was in a size 4 I was in the 140's
You are most probably gaining water weight over the weekend and not fat. Gaiing fat does not happen that fast. If it did we'd all be in serious trouble.

hi,
Just keep on doing what you been doing, if you haven't change a thing then don't, we all go through these type of things, I guess thats just the way it has to be for some of us. keeping your calories in check(low) and exercise is just about the only thing to do, if you up your calorie intake that maybe because of the exercise?
its not true the less we take in calorie wise and exercise is the way to go. its best to stay with what has worked for you over the last year or so, if you keep having trouble loseing and your gaining simply cut your calores by 100 or up them which ever you feel you need to do

Maybe it's not how many calories your taking in, maybe it's the type of calories your consuming. Have you tried limiting your carbs? I have been fighting with my weight ever since my late 20's. The older I get the harder it's been to take off. Since I've started a low-carb lifestyle the weight is a lot easier to take off and I don't get hungry. Your body needs protien to lose weight and build muscle. Try lowering your carb intake and see what happens. A lot of people worry about their collesterol and hypertention when on a low carb diet. My blood pressure and collesterol have actually gone down since I've been on this diet. It's not for everyone, but you may want to see if it works for you.

MariaBB,
Be sure you are getting enough of water intake too, if you do not, your body will hold on to what it does get. Also as a previous poster stated, don't count on your scales, if you are loosing inches, you are doing just fine. Muscle does weigh more than fat and it helps you burn more fat. Usta:wave:
