I just read a post where a lady was getting B12 shots to help with weight loss. How does this work? Does it help with the water retention? I'm not looking for a quick fix or rapid diet - I am watching my intake and drinking my water, but am also looking into supplements that may help where my diet lacks. (32 female)
I take (when I rememeber) Fish Oil and need to get my butt in gear and get back into the swing of taking it regularly.
ANYWAY - will B12 pills help?

I don't think taking B-12 Injections will help in weight loss, but depends a lot on your age and well being health, they can give you more energy so you feel better maybe exercise and helps your mind to think better eat better that sort of thing.
I'm not sure on this tho, some Dr's will give you the injections and start you on a good balance diet...the kicker here is follow the diet, B-12 I just can't see how they would help in weight loss?

B12 is often associated with energy. People who are dieting are sometimes deficient in B12 because of their diet. In and of itself, it doesn't cause weight loss - NO. But some people believe it to help maintain energy levels to make you more able to achieve a healthy diet program.
I remember back in the mid 90's it was a very "trendy" weightloss idea in my part of the country. Clinics started popping up offering the shots, etc. I don't think it helped many people, but these clinics also placed people on a very strict diet (that's what helped them). A lot of people who get Hgh injections are given B12 simultaneously (like Anna Nicole, for example).
My family doctor will sometimes give me a B12 shot if I am going through a period of feeling "run down", have just gotten over an illness, etc. I don't seem to notice that it does much of anything for me, but he likes the idea.

Well I take B-12 injections monthly, I have what is called'' Preneious Anmia'' my body don't produce the cyanocobalmin it needs basicly for the central nervous system, and the sublinal-B-12 tablets will not absorb in my blood stream, the reason for the injections, but taking the B-12 did not help me lose weight, its true they will give you energy and thats my thinking why a Dr would give them other wise if he/she would need to do a blood test and if you was low on your b-12 then he/she would need to figure out why? there could be a underlying problem that neither of you know about.
but other than that In my opinion some Docs just loves to run up your bill or think they are helping you energy wise.

Hello all,
I just started the dr assisted weight loss program. He put me on a 1200 calorie diet, gave me a script for a fat blocker to take prior to the largest meal of the day and started me on the B12 shots. B12 shots are for increased energy and they help the body reduce water retention. That is what he told me, so that is all I know, they do not in and of themselves help you loose weight. Usta:wave:

I have been on shots of B12 with hCG alternated with B12 with cAMP for about 6.5 weeks now, along with phentermine and a low calorie diet with exercise. I don't know how much effect can be attributed to each factor, but I can tell you with enthusiasm that I am never hungry, I have a FANTASTIC energy level (whereas before I felt like a slug), and I have lost 26 pounds. In the prior 6 weeks, dieting and exercising alone, I lost 10 pounds. That is a significant increase in the pace of weight loss!

I can explain this one!!!!B12 shots are associated with a diet program in Canada...why the shots...B12 is scientifically proven when injected into fat deposited areas of the body, in high potiency, it will break down the fat deposit and allow the body with proper diet and proper hydration to flush the stored fat out of the body....B12 injections will elimanate only the fat, and leave behind muscle and proper skin tone so those who require alot of weight loss will not be left with saggy skin. It is 100% safe, highly effective and works miracles.
Suggested after the program is for clients to follow with taking B12 orally to keep the process going in the body, so you will break down fats in your system more efficently.
I attended this clinic and lost a total of 42 pounds in 3.5 months and have kept it off for 2yrs now..... My body is better now than when I was a teenager I am now in my 40's. But I also work hard at proper nutrishion and exercise. The program was not just about the injections it was also about learning proper eating habits and learning water is the key to avoiding fluid retention. The more we drink the better the results.
Unfortantley this program is offered in Canada at present, has it was a Canadian doctor who founded it, a few of his clinics are in Florida for patience convience as we flock there in the winter...much like the geese...lol.
So the answer is without question yes B12 breaks down fat, and is useful when dieting.
