Hi everyone,

I am 25yrs old and have been married for four years and trying to concieve for 3 without success.
Originally we were told that the reason we have not concieved was due to dh sperm being sluggish i have since found out that as well as this being the case i also have pco (that would explain excessive weight gain/acne ect)
I started puregon 50mg injections which then increased to 100mg daily which were done at home by dh(which for anyone who hasnt started doesnt hurt if you inject into the tummy using the pen type thing) and was scanned every two days.
I recieved my booster injection on saturday and was inseminated on monday.
Today is tuesday and i had another scan to make sure i had ovulated which they seemed quite happy i had.
If af is a no show i will have a test done on 11 april....here's hoping!

Kathy,

Thanx so much for your kind words, until now i felt very alone as this is not something i know anyone going through and have not told our parents about(dont want anyone to worry).
I have found the forums ive read so far touching and can identify with so many of them already.
Is a great way to let your feelings out as well as get sound advice and share experiences.
Thanx again for the welcome

A beta is just what we call a blood pregnancy test. They look for the HCG pregnancy hormone in your blood. Not all drs order the beta, some have you HPT (home pg test).

Cramping is definitely normal after the IUI. Best of luck to you!!

I'm actually in between cycles right now. I did my first IUI in March, but it didn't end in BFP. My dr approached me about being a shared egg donor for a couple who needs IVF but can't use their own eggs. This would also benefit me because my dr says IVF is our best chance at getting pg, but we can't afford it on our own. With the shared egg donor program, I will give this other couple half the eggs I produce during the IVF cycle, and they will pay for everything up to the retrieval (saving us about $10,000!). So we are just starting that process now. I am currently on birth control pills to regulate my cycle, and I have my first appt for the new cycle tonight. :blob_fire We are looking at May for the retrieval.

Good luck in your 2ww! I hope it goes quickly and ends in a BFP!!!

Holly,

God! do you need to pay every time you get it done? how much does that usually cost?
Im stunned as in the uk you get so many tries on the nhs iui is 9 cycles in my area and icsi is 3. doesnt the goverment fund any where you are?
I feel that the egg share must give you a fabulous feeling inside so rewarding. Anyway hope you get on well tonight-keep me posted.

The government in the US doesn't provide any funding for IF whatsoever. We have private healthcare, and usually the cost is paid partially by our employers. It is one thing about our country I really wish the government would change. My insurance plan covers three IUIs and zero IVFs. We tried one IUI and my dr approached me about the shared egg donor program, so we jumped at the opportunity. Prices range from clinic to clinic, but my dr's office charges about $15,000 for each attempt at IVF. They have discounted rates if you pay for more than one cycle at a time, but we can't even afford one cycle on our own, so this is probably our only shot at it. If it doesn't work, I don't know what we will do...

It is a lot of money! we have a lot of taxes we pay for to ensure everyone gets medical treatment and although this is not life threatening you get so many tries paid for you or i wouldnt be able to afford this many either, however i dont think that its as expensive in the uk have you looked into that?

Well actually counting the days to go to my dr again and hoping i ll be able to TTC then. Although i might need to up my dose.
Really praying that after that i won t have any more set backs then . Even though i am 27 really want to have my kids before i am 30 coz my sticky blood prob may increase complications.
Today spent a day at home shopping cooking etc. I actually like cooking. . . . .though leave the clearing and washing up to DH.
Here we ve got some beautiful weather and peolpe have actually started swimming . . . but its way to cold for me. but i spent some time gardening and that was great too.

Jam, I have heard that it's cheaper in the UK and a few other countries as well. We have considered moving to a different state where we may be able to find better insurance coverage, but I just don't know if we would have the money to go overseas and live there long enough to go through all the procedures. I appreciate the suggestion though. You certainly need to explore all options when trying to beat IF and dealing with the money issues. I know you guys pay higher taxes to get your health care, and I wish our government did that too. I would pay the money in a heartbeat if it meant not having to worry about healthcare. People die every day for lack of coverage. It's just sick. Guess I should be thankful this isn't life threatening, it's just terribly disappointing. :( Oh well, no sadness today. I'm trying to be upbeat. :) Thanks again!

Amy, I'm 27 too!! :) When is your birthday? Mine's in May. I always wanted to be a young mommy, but I will just settle for being a mommy period. Thanks for the well wishes on my appt. I will let you all know how it goes. I'm so glad they were able to fit me in! I hope your upcoming appt goes well too so you can get back in the game! I know how bad it stinks to have to sit around and wait...Sounds like you are doing some great things to stay busy though. I love cooking too, but I can't get my BF to clean to my standards  so I usually have to do the cleaning afterwards as well. Men! :p

Hi Holly

Well locally we pay hight taxes too. Healthcare is covered by the goverment excluding cosmetic stuff and infertility. And i think its so unfair.
Thanks for your wishes. Can t wait for the 24th of APril seems such a long way.
Oh so you ll be 28 soon which day in MAy. My birthday is Sept 3rd. If i remember correctly your IVF is to be scheduled in May. . . that would be a lovely birthday present wouldn t it?

Ugh, that sucks that IF isn't covered for you. I didn't realize that. Don't worry, April 24 will be here before ya know it. We will keep you busy. ;)

Yeah, thanks for reminding me that I will be 28 soon. LOL My birthday is on the 15th. I'm scared to even hope for a BFP for my birthday because I know how much a BFN would hurt. I would actually prefer to be in the 2ww on my birthday and find out the following week. Then if it is + it will be a late birthday present, and if it is - at least I will still have a nice bday. I'm not sure where I will be at in my cycle yet though. I will have to see when they give me the schedule...

Holly

Amy 333
03-28-2007, 12:44 PM
Oh sorry about that but lets just consider that 28 is young ok.

I understand what you mean about prefering to be on your 2ww at that time . However you are young and healthy. Chances are good with IVF so try and think positive.

Re the cleaning. . . .Dh never cleans to my standards either. ANything i ask him to do he makes a mess. Once i asked him to do laundry he got all my whites pink. Another time he shrunk all the clothes.
Sometimes i think he actually does it on purpose so that i don t get him to do anything but i actually think his mother used to do everything for him.

So know i try and be patient because as soon as i criticise he doesn t like it. But as you say men will be men eh.

All the best for tonight

Don t need to undergo IVF for now .. . had been TTC for 5 months before i had my thyroid set back > This was probably causing my IF so will be trying naturally after the problem is solved. I really hope that i won t get to IVF. . .especially since i don t think i would afford it.
My only consolation is that i d have you guys for support.

Carisa

I really hope that you ll get your BFP on the 10th that way you ll be able to celebrate on the 11th . . .without drinking any alcohol.

Amy, that is so funny you would say that about you having the suspicion your DH purposely does a bad job cleaning so you won't ask him anymore. I am CERTAIN that's what my BF does! It has just become easier to do everything myself than to ask him to do it and then have to go behind him and do it right. I have the book Men are from Mars Women are from Venus, but I haven't read it yet. Maybe I will have to...

Carisa, I will be praying for your BFP sweetie!!!! That has got to be SO nervewracking!!! May you have the best birthday EVER!

Jam, I'll be praying for your BFP as well! How nice that the two of you will be testing the same day. May you both get the best news! By the way, I'm addicted to the site too, so don't feel bad. One poster (Armywife) jokingly compares it to crack. :p
