Hi all,
I have plantar fasciits, and it hurts really bad..I am starting pt tommorrow, and am scheduled for a cortisone shot in my heel in a few weeks..can anyone tell me if either worked for them?

I tried both, pt definitely helped strengthen my foot, but made very little difference to the pain. I had 3 cortisone shots in total, 1st 2 worked for a period of 6 wks, then the pain returned, 3rd one had no effect at all.

All that said, I had waited a long time before seeking treatment, and I'm sure things would have worked better had I not delayed. I eventually had to have surgery, but this is definitely a last resort.

I had 2 cortisone injections in m right heel for plantar fascitis, both with absolutely no relief. Two weeks after the 2nd injection I ruptured the plantar fascia while getting on my horse. After a trip to the ER they put me in a removable walking cast for about 4 weeks. The foot started feeling better in 2 weeks so I didn't really wear the cast much after that time. But .......sometime after that, the top of my foot started hurting and got increasingly worse and worse over the next several months. I am now in a plaster cast for 6 weeks, because apparently the plantar fascia never did heal and thats why I was having so much pain. They need to immobilize my foot so the plantar fascia can begin to heal.

An interesting note though......I had the same problem in the other foot about 8 or 9 years ago and cortisone shots were extremely helpful and eventually the pain went away and never came back. Why it didn't work on the right foot is anyone's guess.

MMM..I am afraid of that! I have had this pain for months, my Doctors just kept passing me off..finally my rheumatologist checked it out and made the diagnosis and sent me for the pt.
Blue..Ouch! that sounds painful. I only hope that the injection will work for me like it did for one of yours!
I went for Pt. today, he said I am a mess..my muscles are in knots all the way up to my hip..he will be giving me some deep tissue massage and exercise. He was trying to rub out the muscle in the foot..and boy I almost went through the roof..very painful.
Oh man I hope this works!!!
