Hello, all. I was diagnosed with HSV 1 in the genital area a few years ago. After the initial outbreak, I didn't experience anything for so long. I recently went off the pill as my husband and I are trying to have a baby and now I have noticed that whenever my period nears, I get EXTREME itching inside/outside of my vagina. This time, I did notice that it burned when I peed, and can feel some small sores.

This has been going on for four months now, ever since I stopped the pill. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Please help. I went to the doctor last month but thought I had a yeast infection or something since there were no sores. She found a slight bacterial infection but I didn't mention the herpes and neither did she.

The itching is what is killilng me. Any suggestions? I just called my gyno asking for a Valtrex Rx; I'll do anything! I can't go on like this EVERY month until I go back on the pill. I do believe it has something to do with the birth control. It's too coincidental that I went so long without any signs or symptoms but then BAM, off the pill and I'm in hell!
