Okay, so here's the question. I'm half-white half-hispanic. My grandmother is spanish, and my grandfather is mexican... and somewhere in there is dark irish. My mother, who is 75% hispanic, is somehow not as dark as I am. I've worn sunscreen once in my life and it caused me to burn the first and only time in my life. I used to tan when I was little, but now I don't tan and I don't burn. My skin is chemically sensitive to different ingredients... I have to use all natural products.

Would a natural sunscreen have the same effect? Is my natural pigment good protection, or do I need something to protect my skin from skin cancer?

What is a natural sunscreen? Being inside?
Everyone needs sunscreen protection no matter how dark you are. You can burn no matter what your ethnic background is. True, many darker skinned people don't burn as easily or at all, but it can and does happen. My father gets as dark as anyone can in a week in the sun and never burned in his life until they vacationed in Jamaica a few years back. The sun was stronger down there plus our atmosphere doesn't block out the as many rays as it used to. Use sunscreen and not be sorry!
