What methods did you use with your previous weight loss?

I have tried all the over the counter pills and drugs. I have tried Physician prescribed drugs. I have tried Slim fast, weight watchers, People on the Go, Slim in 6, etc. Most recently I was on a high protein diet with no carbs, drinking protein drinks 3-4 times per day, 1 protein bar per day, a high protein dinner and exercising 5-6 days per week - both aerobics and jogging/walking.

hi
welcome to the healthboards
Without knowing your medical history or your well being I would recommend that you consult your family Dr before going on any type diet/or just jumping into something that maybe detrimental to your health.
Do you know your BMI number?
70lbs is not to bad to lose, but it can be very difficult.
If you can figure out how many calories your consuming daily then that would help a great deal.
This has what help me lose my weight and keep it off but remember everyone is different what works for some may not work for others but this will be about as close as you can possible get, if you do this! and it will work.
If you find that out then subtract 500 calories from that number, if your taking in say 2700 calories daily then subtract 500 from that and then you should start loseing but you need to be precise with it.
If you don't lose after 3 or 4 weeks then lower the calories by 100/200 if you do this you will lose weight along with exercise and weight trainning.
When you get to your goal weight or desired weight simply Times that by 10 and that number will give you a mantance of daily calories to stabolize your weight.
IT HELPS TO HAVE A CALORIE DIARY OR A NOTE BOOK AND WRITE DOWN EVER THING YOU EAT AND THE CALORIES IN IT,(PERCISELY) ALSO A CALORIE COUNTING BOOK WILL HELP YOU IF YOUR NOT SURE ON THE CALORIE COUNTS OF THE FOODS YOU EAT.
get you a measueing scale weight scale, Most GNC centers have these, or maybe try your local neighbor hood grocery such as a wal-mart super center.
you will need to weigh and mesure some foods ,read the nurtion labels and eat healthy foods /protein helps ''curb'' the aptite and gives you the nutrition you need along with lots of veggies.
stay away from any hydranated or processed fats.
try to eat and think low calorie, and remember to exercise, if you have a problem with exercise just start off slow and just do what you can and in no time you will be feeling better looking better.
this will need to be a lifetime change for you because if you lose the weight and then start over eating its obvious as to what will happen.
With a little wil power and some good motivation/insperation you can do this.
BUT with all this said theres some people that just can not lose weight no matter what they do or have tied to do to me if a person has tried most evey diet out there and was true and faihful and only lose a few lbs then gain then lose gain lose most of there life, then according to your BMI and your health maybe it would be a wise choice to concider Bariatric Surgery.
Good Luck and I wish you the best on your weight loss Journey.

Thank you for your reply. My BMI is 35 and I have consulted several doctors. I do not qualify for bariatric surgery, my weight loss doctor gave me Meridia which did nothing and my regular doctor says to try a weight loss center - like I haven't been there done that. On the one diet I was restricted to a Slimfast drink in the morning, a bar for lunch and a salad with chicken breast for dinner - so I was down to eating nothing and still couldn't lose. Any more suggestions??

hi,
yeah 35 BMI is borderline with the surgery but if it is for your health and effects your ability to lose weight? then yes you can have the surgery at a BMI of 35 other wise I think the Norm would be a BMI of 40 above.
Well I suggest that you count calories and be precise with them, on a day you wake up start remembering all and everything you eat and count the calories...count your breakfast foods that you eat / your dinner/supper...even the condiments
for example...wheaties cereal with skim not fat milk...for a little over a cup thats 300 calories with the milk.
diner is the tricky part of your a meat eater? just be precise with the calorie count try to stay around 400/600 for your afternoon meals, 300/600/600/=1500calories and you should not go over that amount of calories and lose weight.
if you do or you need to because of hungar, eat you something low calorie like some veggies, celerly stick, green beans, I eat lots of veggies with my afternoon meals so I won't get hungry at night and drink lots of water and exercise if you can do that, exercise helps raise your metablisum and worts off the hungar, drinking water is good but sometimes that only bloats you but if you can take just a couple of supps that may help you curb your aptite.
Remember cutting your food intake means cutting back on calories, once you start do this it gets eazier...it is hard at first but just say with it.
theres other diets that you can do that work for weight loss but this is the only way I have found that helps me lose and keep it off while eating foods love..the kicker is you just can't have as much as you once did and that takes a while to get use to.

Rdadams,
Have you ever been tested for food allergies? Two years ago, I had the tests done, after reading about it in a natural medicine book. It suggested finding out what foods you're intolerant to because eating those foods can cause weight gain and a whole bunch of ailments ( Such as: Chronic headaches, sinus congestion, bloating after eating, fluid retention, heartburn, acne, eczema, dark circles under eyes, canker sores, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, hypoglycemia, obesity, depression, brain fog, mood swings and irritability).
I found out that I'm intolerant to yeast and peanuts. I immediately stopped eating those two things and my weight finally began to come off. I also found out that the foods you are intolerant to are the very foods you crave and most likely eat everyday...and yes, I absolutely craved and ate bread, cheese, wine, vinegars, and peanut butter like a mad woman. The only one I still wrestle with is the peanut butter. That is most likely the source of my acne this week...I ate peanut butter last week!!! That's it, no more for me!!!
I also wanted to add that if you're allergic to mold, like I am, you should avoid mushrooms, peanuts, pistashios (those two nuts contain mold), cheese, bread, canned juices, and dried fruit.
I have gradually gone from 148 to now 118 by following a yeast-free diet and also low carb. You can read an old post about my allergy ordeal in the archives here by searching for "Losing weight on a Yeast-free diet" on the weight loss board...knowing what I absolutely shouldn't eat was a pivotal and crucial part of my weight loss. I now have a greater understanding of how my body works, and that's a great starting point!!!!
