zappalicious 03-28-2007, 02:17 PM Does anyone else get thick mucus in their throat after drinking? I notice it the most after drinking something very cold. Do you know what is causing this? taape 03-28-2007, 09:21 PM I get it but not from drinking cold drinks. I have known seasonal allergies before I had my stomach problems. No matter, it's still annoying to have and lately it is giving me a sore throat. Do you get a sore throat from the mucos? Kellir 03-28-2007, 09:41 PM I ALWAYS have mucus in my throat and difficulty swallowing. chikkie14 03-28-2007, 11:09 PM I have it all the time! and I am always gagging because of that.... drinking hot drinks like fruit infusion tea with honey helps me a lot... its so annoying! mommyinVA 03-29-2007, 07:32 PM I always have it as well and yes, VERY annoying. It's part of the joy of LPR! chikkie14 03-30-2007, 04:05 AM Do you also have headaches and pressur eon the face and all over your head? I have and it hurts pretty bad!! It feels like my heads to heavy to carry around :dizzy: mommyinVA 03-30-2007, 10:22 AM Hi Chickie - yes, I have chronic headaches and I do believe the headaches and mucous, for me, have come together. I have seen several ENT's and while they see drainage in my sinuses, LPR is what they have diagnosed. Unfortunately PPI's and I don't agree, so I'm taking Pepcid (which I think may also contribute to headaches). It's such a vicious cycle. Kathy mkgbrook 03-30-2007, 11:38 AM Yes to the mucus frenzy. Only taking anti-histamine daily and decongestants in conjunction with my Nexium help me. If I forget either my Nexium or Zyrtec. I feel like a volcano is about to pop my head of.. what an image. Sincerely, MG Do you also have headaches and pressur eon the face and all over your head? I have and it hurts pretty bad!! It feels like my heads to heavy to carry around Yes until my most recent sinus cavity roto-rootering. I got cleaned out, opened and drilled. What a wonderful long recover it was.. but it was worth it. I am finally headache free. This makes me think you might have allergy rhinittus or a sinus structural defect trapping fluid in your sinus cavities. An allergist and ENT might give you the best relief to this issue. ben88 08-15-2007, 06:52 AM How does LPR make you have mucous in your throat all the time? Is it the body trying to protect itself from the acid? Also if I have mucous but no sore throat or cough does that mean I've got LPR or not? Pooke67 08-15-2007, 08:38 PM I don't have a cough and I am currently being treated for LPR which is causing Sinusitis. I did read that the mucus is being overproduced to try and protect the throat from the acidic refluxing. Prilosec and Zantac have helped me tremendously...currently on week 4. cjj14u 08-15-2007, 09:05 PM What is "LPR"? cl84 08-15-2007, 10:30 PM What is "LPR"? laryngopharyngeal reflux nellaishere 02-26-2008, 11:08 PM HELLO! im glad i found these boards i am finding that people have similar problems and symtoms that i have had for years and thought to be the only one to have. the mucus always in my throat is one. i have trouble swallowing. and it IS vert annoying. troubly eating. my stomach does get bloated after eating. i have chronic headaches. i think i might have LPR!! i will go see a doctor and tell them about this being as their reply to all my syymptoms usually were "anxiety" "stress" and "asthma" which brings me to this, i found this board searching for online answers to my breathing problems. there is a thread on here with people experiencing the same problems as i. my heart flutters and i feel like i have to yawn to get a full breath but its hard to do so. do people with LPR also have this problem? If so i think i may have found what has been causing me all these symptoms and knowing what it is would be such a great relief! hope to hear some replies on this, i am so happy right now! even if im having trouble breathing and the phlem in my thoat is so annoying i feel like chocking! Vanessa74 02-27-2008, 11:18 AM I also suffer from breathing problems - I do not have LPR - but I do have Acid Reflux/GERD with a suspected mild hiatal hernia. I believe that this conditions definitely contributes to my breathing difficulties. I have noticed lately that after eating I get mucous coming up into my throat. I wonder if mine is worsening - I sure hope not. There are many here that suffer from LPR - and it does cause them breathing problems as well. I hope you find some answers and relief very soon. shan06 02-27-2008, 11:57 AM what color is the mucus when you hack it up most times???mine is yellow or white or clear and thick...so annoying especially when taking the train and it being crowded....Hacking just cant happen the way u want it...hate this..i am going to an ENT next week......Nasonex helps but not totally..I have GERD and Post nasal drips for like 12 years now.... flowergirl2day 02-28-2008, 12:55 AM Nella, Like so many others here, I also have breathing problems which, luckily, have been suppressed for some time now. I have a hiatal hernia and GERD and probably the LPR as well. The breathing problems could be from the hernia alone, the GERD, or a combination of both conditions, or none of the previously mentioned causes-meaning OTHER causes might apply (according to my internist). I believe the shortness of breath is GERD related because I always had stomach discomfort/pain, nausea and lung/chest pain when unable to breathe properly. Not surprisingly, I was "diagnosed" as having asthma last year and put on asthma meds. These drugs didn't help me at all. I felt exactly the same after I stopped taking them. My breathing and nausea got better after starting the Nexium. I believe the PPI medication has somehow played a significant role in making my breathing managable. I hope your doctor will be able to diagnose your condition and start you on appropriate therapy. flowergirl girlie77 04-02-2008, 04:59 PM hi would like your advice on these symptoms and lpr, sinus conjestion, pressure feeling in ears, headaches, feeling full in throat(mucus) strange taste. thanks. hope you can help percycat 04-06-2008, 11:49 AM "i will go see a doctor and tell them about this being as their reply to all my syymptoms usually were "anxiety" "stress" and "asthma"" Definitely do that! I'm new here, but had the same problems with diagnoses as you until just last week. Of course, anxiety DOES kick in when you feel you can't breathe, but in my case, it's such a relief to know there's a physical cause, and that I am going to be able to breathe. By the way, I have some mild mucus in the throat as well. GI doctor tried to insist that it was post-nasal drip, but that didn't sound right since it was just in the throat. Thank goodness I got to a good ENT who could understand my concerns and do the proper tests. My two main LPR symptoms have always been shortness of breath and a globus sensation in the throat. Good luck to you! jwr77777 04-07-2008, 04:42 PM I suffer with the same thing, constant mucus in my throat and stomach aches. Which came first the chicken or the egg??? Does the mucus in my throat and constant swallowing of mucus cause my stomach aches or does my stomach aches cause the mucus (acid reflux?). flowergirl2day 04-08-2008, 11:25 AM Does the mucus in my throat and constant swallowing of mucus cause my stomach aches or does my stomach aches cause the mucus (acid reflux?). A very good question! I hope someone out there has an answer to it, if there is one....:) heather2009 05-14-2008, 08:27 PM So you have had success with treating the mucus. That is my main symptom of lpr. I am on nexium twice a day. Week 4 and still no change. I have tried mucinex and nothing seems to work. I have to do a nasal wash about 4 times a day to clear some of it. How much zantac to you take. mardebjs 05-15-2008, 09:08 AM nellaishere- I get the flutters and the need to yawn to get a deep breath and I have LPR. |
