Hi guys!

I just got the call from the nurse at my clinic and here are the results:

Out of 13 eggs-7 fertilized, 3 are incubating with a possibility of fertilization in a few days, and 2 died. Poor little things.

So, what do you think? Are these decent results? I guess I'm a little disappointed, I was really hoping for more. Who knows, maybe the 3 eggs that are incubating will fertilize also.

Hi Carisa!

Congratulations on the 7 that fertilized!!!! I learned that we can't drive ourselves crazy with how many we have...as long as there are enough to transfer, you should be happy!!!! ( I wish I would have taken my own advice;)) I hope those other 3 little guys stay strong and fertilize over the next few days!!!! Please keep us posted. Congrats again sweetie!!!!

Hi Carisa,
congratulations on the fertilized ones, do not stress yourself out about the number, the most important thing is for you to take them after transfer, so relax and get all the rest you can. Goodluck and heres wishing you the BFP soon.

That's a great number! I don't know what 'incubating' means.. maybe you if don't do ICSI that means they are seeing if they fertilize but haven't yet? I also had two eggs that died.. they called it atrophied in my case. I think it means more that they were either too big or too small at the time of retrieval or they were empty.. atleast it did in my case I think. 7 is really good and you should have some left over to freeze for (hopefully) a sibling! :) That's great!!

carisa
03-28-2007, 08:54 PM
Actually they are doing icsi. I think they are wanting the three to grow a little bit more so they could do the icsi in them. The seven that did fertilize were also done by icsi. I hope you are right, I hope there will be a few to freeze!

Yes, my poor hubby found out he has some problems in that area. He took it hard. It's actually not too bad though, his count is around 10 million instead of the 50-60 million that they like to see.

03-28-2007, 10:09 PM
Thats not to bad but tell him there are worse things out there like my DH is sterile.I dont need to tell u how he took it.Well good luck sweetie I am praying for u.

Wow, I'm sorry, that must have been so hard on him. I don't think men realize that we don't look at them any differently when they have "issues." I think they think it defines their manhood or something.

Yeah thats true.My DH just feels so bad I have to go through all this with the meds etc.He just hates it cause he knows he is sterile and cant get me pregnant.Since I have no IF issues I think he feels insecure that I might leave him for another man.He does realize now I would not trade him in for anyone in the world. He is the best thing that has happened to me.Even though he wont be the biological father he will love that child more than life itself. No doubt in my mind he will be the best father in the world.I cant wait to give him a baby.I dont even think I am using donor sperm I just feel like they are using DH's sperm its weird.Anyway enough of my venting.Cant wait to hear ur report tomorrow about the other embies.Just pray sweetie.

Yeah, I can see where you would feel that way. Nobody would ever know the difference, including you guys. Once you have a baby, it doesn't matter. We will adopt if for some reason we can't get pregnant. Hopefully our ivf will work, but if not, I am not opposed at all. Well, on the bright side of your situation is that most likely you will get pregnant since you don't have any if issues yourself! ;)

Hi Carisa - I just wanted to tell you congrats on having a few successfully fertilized embies. I am heading out of town tomorrow for a few days and fear I won't be able to get online much if at all... so I wish you all the best with your transfer and can't wait to come back home and find out how it went for you.

Hi Carisa

Congratulations and good luck!!! Please excuse my ignorance here but what is the difference between a three day transfer and a five day transfer. I have never had IVF and unfortunately am not a candidate for it so my knowledge in this area is very limited. However, I am certainly very excited for you and believe that this will be a wonderful opportunity for success!

Sending you lots of baby dust.

OK, so the report is in and I now have 9 embyos!!:blob_fire :blob_fire
5 of the 9 are graded a 1, and the other 4 of them are graded a 2! 1 is the best grade, and 2 is the next best. So the nurse was extremely happy for us!

Ruby-It's all so confusing to me too, but from what I understand the five day is better because they have more time to grow into many cells so they can tell better which embryos are the strongest.

Cmarie-What were your embryos that you used graded at? Curious.....

That is wonderful news!!!! Congratulations!!!! :blob_fire :blob_fire :blob_fire How many will they transfer back?

My RE did not give me a grade, he said they were "good". They transferred 2 back at day 5. They were not full blasts yet because they did the transfer earlier in the morning and my RE said that if the transfer were later that day they would have been full blasts. He made a really big deal to stress that the grade doesn't necessarily mean a pregnancy or a negative, so that helped ease my mind a little!!! So it definitely goes to show that you don't need grade A embroys to get pregnant because here I am maybe with twins:angel: I couldn't be more happy for you and just relax and enjoy the ride now...in about two weeks you will know if you are a mommy!!!!!

Cmarie-They are going to transfer two back in. I couldn't be more excited. My husband and I are getting a hotel room in San Francisco about two blocks from the clinic the day of the transfer so I could just lay down and rest and get room service, order a movie, etc. I can't wait!!

Thanks for all of the encouragment! It means SO much to me!

Well.......the transfer went really well! They transferred two great looking five days!! :blob_fire :blob_fire The only let down was that I had none left over to freeze. I'm just so thankful that two of them were so good! I'm so glad this parts over, I'm just wanting the next week to go by very fast so I can know!

Hey, has any other of the ivf girls been paranoid about every little movement? I feel like I'm nervous about everytime I do anything, especially go to the bathroom....um.....number two? Or if I laugh really hard, stuff like that. Well, I've been laying down since last night and got up to type and get something to eat. Wish me luck, my first beta is next Tues the 10th!!

Cmarie-Did you take showers during your bedrest? My doctor said not to do bedrest, but I'm doing it anyway. I figured it could only help. She said that bedrest has not proven to increase success rates. I thought that was kind of strange. Anyway, so my question is this........did you shower, and did you lay down in bed or kind of sit up and read. Yes, I'm being paranoid, but I had to ask!:dizzy: Also, did you ever get implant bleeding or implant cramps? If so, when? Thaks.

Hope your B/w went fine and you get the numbers as high for twins !!

Carisa
The doc's office will always say that resting more will not get you any extra good results but I guess no harm in staying on bed for extra days. These weird thoughts are very very natural as I had the same after the transfer and didn't take shower for 3 days :)

Good luck and wishing you a BFP too.

Hi Carisa!

I am so happy that the transfer went well!!! Don't worry about the freezing...you will have twins and have an instant family;)

My RE said I should be on bedrest of two days but I did a total of four. I had showered the morning of the transfer and then I did not on the day after, I barely moved! Then I showered the third and the fourth day. I did kind of sit up but tried to lie flat as much as I could take.

I did not have any implantation bleeding what so ever. Two days before my bloodtest (days 10 and 11) I did have cramping low down in the pelvic area. I was sure I would have gotten AF, but I guess I was wrong;) I really tried not to read into the symptoms because of the progesterone.

Are you doing the progesterone injections? So how many days post transfer is your beta...10 days? I can't wait for Tuesday to come and hear about your BFP!!!!!
I will be sending you buckets and buckets of bubbie dust:blob_fire
love,
cmarie

carisa
04-02-2007, 06:52 PM
Cmarie-I am not taking the progesterone shots. I'm doing the suppositories. I also am still on the baby aspirin and am using estrogen patches. My first beta is nine days after my transfer. I'm sure hoping for a positive test. I'm actually trying not to focus too much on the test right now. One thing at a time. :dizzy: I took a shower this morning, but have been laying around the rest of the day. I think I will do that again tomorrow. I have an acupuncture appointment tomorrow too, so that will be nice. I didn't have one the day of the transfer because my transfer was so early and we had to leave town early to get there. I really wanted to have a session before my et, oh well. Will you be doing acupuncture throughout the first trimester of pregnancy? I'm planning on doing it for awhile. Thanks for repsonding!
