I just found out today that i have herpes 1 oral.I talked to my hubby who informed me that since hes been a teenager hes had cold sores off and on.Matter of fact since weve been married for 16 yrs hes had them a few time and right now he has one on his mouth.Could this be how i contracted it?What im trying to find out is if he doesnt have it ,and i have oral sex with him is there a chance he could get it.Also if i have oral sex with him is there anyway it could turn into the hvs 2 genitals herpes. Also im not showing anykind of sores on my body or mouth.I was wondering if you could get herpes on the outside of your nose.I would appreciate any replies.Thankyou.:blob_fire

A herpes infection is possible anywhere on your body and can be transmitted accordingly. If your husband has had cold sores in the past on his lips he is already infected with the herpes virus. Herpes is what causes cold sores. It is very likely that contact with him was the mode of transmission to you.

You are a little bit confused about hsv. Let me try and straighten something up for you. Genital herpes can be either hsv1 or hsv2...if it is affecting the "boxer shorts" area, it's considered genital herpes. But yeah...hsv1 can be spread to the genital region(giving you genital herpes) but it's still hsv1. The sores that you are getting on your nose are most likely how hsv1 is manifesting itself with you. I get them inside my nose personally. If your husband's been getting cold sores for years, that means that he's had hsv1 for years. Herpes(usually hsv1) is what cold sores(fever blisters) are. Ask as many questions as you feel necessary...herpes is a very confusing virus. There is a lot of information on the internet to be read. So just remember that anyone you see with a cold sore means they have herpes. And just because someone hasn't had a cold sore doesn't mean they wouldn't test positive for hsv1...not everyone with hsv1 has OBs.

Well so far i know i have the oral herpes 1 kind.As for the sores on the outside of my nose they never happened before.I just thought since i was getting over a cold and blowing my nose all the time that i really irritated it.I been reading up on oral herpes quite a bit now.But theres soooo much info im having a hard time processing it all.And how it will relate to my sex life.Im alittle embarrassed to talk about sexual matters. But i know for me to be able to effectively deal with this i need feedback from others. What i need to know is if both my husband and i test for oral herpes1,and either of us perform oral sex on each other is it possible for us to get the genital kind Is hvs1 always the oral kind and hvs2 the genital kind.So confusing. So if we both have the same kind can we contract the genital kind later,or just if we go outside the marriage. Many thanks for clearing it up about what was going on with my nose.Other then that im not showing any signs of blisters or cold sores anywhere. And the few that i had on my nose are now dried up.So if we both test for the same exact thing ,does that mean we still have to use comdoms? If neither of us has the genital kind just the oral? Thanks again.

If you've never had an outbreak, how do you know you have oral herpes?? HSV1 can occur both orally or genitally. HSV2 is a different strain of the virus, and if you didnt test positive for type2, then you dont need to worry about it. HSV1 will not change to HSV2. OK, so your husband has had hsv1 for years. You've been married to him for years, and also test positve for hsv1. You've probalby had it for years too... so I see no reason at all to change your sex life. If you've been having oral sex, don't stop now!!
