Hello,

Just a few questions about the ACTH test itself. After the injection did anyone have any symptoms with it. Nausea, shaking, weakness, shortness of breath, labour breathing like your going to pass out. This is very important. I had the test done and this happened to me. The doctor said that the blood work was slow in the beginning but it picked up later to be normal.

Then that night I really became weak, nauseated, muscle spasms that I would jump awake when trying to fall asleep. It took a few weeks to get over that test.

Anyone out there have these same symptoms?

Hi Ocean
I had no symptoms whatsoever with the ACTH stim test. I don't think I've heard of anyone with problems like yours. Did the doctor say your reaction could be a side effect of the test? Hope you are feeling better.

OceanMist,
On the contrary, about 7 hours after the injection I felt FANTASTIC! Most of the aches and pains subsided and my thinking was more clear.

I must of had a allergic reaction. Or I already had to much cortisol in my system. Orrrrrrrr my adrenal gland was not totally gone. So at first it was slow and then it kicked in...............I guess we will never know what really happened.

I have always had the same symptoms of addisons disease. My grandmother had it and I never knew that till I got sick and she had already passed away 15 years prior.

Thank you for your answers

Oceanmist,

I had a similar thing when I had my test. I suffer from shortness of breath frequently but it got worse during the test. I also felt weak and very dizzy. I informed my doc and he said it is normal, apparently if you suffer from allergies (even mild ones) or asthma it can trigger an attack. He said the dizzy feeling was also normal in some people, it is a side effect.

Not sure if what he told me was true but that is what he said!!

Thanks,

Naomi
