Are there certain cold medicines you should stay from if you have hypertension? If so, do they just raise your blood pressure temporarily? I know the caffine in sodas raises it for a few minutes, so I try to stay away from it before I take my blood pressure. I've never had a problem with Tylenol PM or certain allergy medicines, but I know that there some that raise your blood pressure, but I wasn't sure if this was over a long period of time of just briefly.

Absoultely, check with your druggist, there are too many to list that you should stay away from. They will run you B.P. up drastically.

stay away from decongestants and anything with a D at the end. These can raise your heartrate and blood pressure. Antihistimines (claritan, zyrtec) are fine as long as there is no D at the end.
