Me and my husband have this friend we met about 7 months ago after moving to a new place who is now one of our closest friends.... I dont know, guess just a bit bored so I thought I would come here and ask a question of intrigue I guess, nothing serious, just a bit on the fun side. The day I met this friend of ours, he is male- I immediately got this feeling of "recognition" when I first made eye contact with him. It was just for an instant but quite overwhelming and not a recognition of "oh I have seen you before" but of " oh, I already know you"... it was the strangest thing in the world... I have never had this feeling with anyone else before- not upon my intial meetings with any of my other closest friends or past relationships which doesnt make sense because my other friendships/ relationships have been stronger or equal to this one- so why no recognition feelings-if thats what it was- there?? I have defiantely had instant feelings of lust before, haha... but never of this feeling- not even from my husband when I first met him.
well, we all hit it off from the begginning and he has become a great friend of both mine and my husbands and he is married as well-... I dont have the hots for him or anything, although I guess we are both a bit attracted to each other on a platonic level I guess as is the case for most opposite sex friendships.
Has anyone ever had this "recognition" thing happen to them? Is this something beyond the parameters of our human existence... so did I recognize his soul, haha... I know it sounds out there, but I dont know... if the whole phenomonan of us existing outside of our human bodies is true, then couldnt this definately be a possibility?

I love stuff like this!! I sometimes wonder if we come back, I would love to believe in that. Unfortunately, I hit a wall of logic about the whole thing. Anyway, yes I have had this happen, but with a girlfriend....it was like "WOW", we seemed to know all the same things. And it was instant too. Like sisters or something. Who knows what it is, but it definitely does happen.

I've had this happen twice...once with my best (girl) friend, and once with my ex. I swear, it was as if the same set of parents had raised us. We said all the same expressions (that you don't necessarily hear that much anymore) and we all thought each other was hilarious....we just "got"one another. It didn't take long for either him/her/I/ to say I love you on the phone before saying goodbye. It was just so natural, it made all the sense in the world to say it/hear it. It's a wonderful thing--just be careful, since you said he was married. He may not have as good a connection with his spouse as he has with you. This is why I don't believe in marriage. There are always going to be others out there who are better for you than who you are currently with, or vice versa.

Hey guys thanks for your feedback... I know what you guys mean... my husband says me and this friend of ours are really so much alike in pretty much all aspects, LOL... but seriously, I think just because of that reason alone, I could never see myself married to him... we just wouldnt mesh well together as a married couple- too much alike in both good and bad attributes.... and I know he is definately inlove with his wife as well as I am with my hubs.... Just thought the whole idea of events, occurances, instances not always fitting in with the earth bound human restraints and limitations scheme of things was a bit interesting and so decided to start a thread on it???

Soulster maybe your phsycic?
Getting a bit heavy here, but maybe he was someone close to you in a past life.

Hi Soulster,
I believe in this as this has happened to me my entire life and I have always been open to it and even welcomed it. It has nothing to do with being attracted in a sexual sense, just a feeling of being connected somehow. I am a strong believer in reincarnation and perhaps you knew this man in a previous life. That's my take on it.

I dont know... I guess I am still a bit skeptical- definately not psychic, haha... but still open to the possibilty... but things like that-- the whole recognition feeling upon meeting someone who turned out to be a good friend as well as a few other events, really make me wonder if there is something else out there??
Sunnyrise... do you have any specific examples that really stand out for you that you wouldnt mind sharing here?

Hi again soulster,
I don't think this feeling has anything to do with being psychic, ha, ha, ha! I honestly don't know where it comes from, just that I have experienced it my entire life.
As you said before, it's a feeling of "oh, I already know you" or "I feel like we met before" even though logically I know that I never met this person before.
As far as having specific examples, when I met my first husband, I felt such a strong connection to him as it we were predestined to meet. All it took was eye contact and that was it, we fell madly in love. Sadly, he passed away from cancer and I still miss him.
I wouldn't take this too seriously and just enjoy your friendship!
