hi everyone, i'm very new at blogging, so please bear w/me.

i've been feeling ill for the last 3 weeks now. it started off with the following symptoms:

-headache/pressure in the middle of my eyes
-stuffy nose
-tender face (it'd hurt to press my face)

i've had a sinus infection before, so i figured that that's what it was. i didn't go to the doctor and in about a week, the symptoms subsided. but then a week later, i started feeling the symptoms again. i went to the doctor and he prescribed me sulfamethoxazole with trimethoprim. i took one in the morning and one at night for 3 days without feeling any hardcore symptoms or side effects. but on the night of the 3rd day, i started getting a mild fever (warmth all over the body), and an upset stomach. and from then on, i started feeling even worse.

i stopped taking the medication, and i still feel sick. nausea in the morning, and loss of appetite almost all throughout the day. the doctors and nurses at the health clinic KEEP telling me to take the antibiotic, but i refuse b/c of how it makes me feel. i guess my question is, why do i continue to feel so sluggish and sickly? i'm honestly so tired of it. please help! i'd really appreciate it. thank you.

If you feel that the antibiodic is causing your symptoms, you might ask the doctor to switch you to another antibiodic one with less side effects.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'd agree with that. Sulfa antibiotics are really the best for sinus infections, but they don't work unless you take them. Perhaps another one would work better for you; with fewer side effects you will actually complete the entire course of them and will start feeling better.

Antibiotics can sometimes cause a drug induced fever... You should talk to your doctor before stopping treatment... unless the side effects are serious of course.

hi everyone, thanks for the quick reply.

i stopped taking the antibiotics. and for the first time in several days, i woke up feeling quite refreshed. i didn't experience any nausea, and my appetite came back.

do you still think i should go to the doctor about getting another prescription? i don't have insurance, so each visit costs me about $70. and paying for the antibiotic is another $30 or so.
