I have a few questions for the people that have had a fusion. It will be 3 weeks this Wednesday since I had my fusion. Everything went well but my Dr gave me a aircast 2 weeks ago to walk on my heel. Has anyone had a fusion and walked on their heel. I always heard no walking at all for 6-7 weeks. I am so tired of sitting and my whole body hurts from just sitting. I do get out here and there but not enough to make me happy. Im a very active person and love to get around. So this is killing me. How long will it be before Im back to normal and doing my daily chores? Please help me with any helpful hints. IM GOING CRAZY sitting. Im very sad, and I don't know what to do to help time pass. Any helpful hints are really appreciated.
Thanks Lisa

i had a sub-talar fusion done in feb. totally no wt. bearing for 6wks. today 15 wks post op and i am in regular shoes, very little pain and walking pretty good i think. the nwb after surgey really sucked, i hated it too. but if you can walk with little pain my doc said it was okay. as long as the pictures look good according to him. just take it slow.

I had a great toe fusion aand was walking on my heal immediately after surgery. If you are in a CAM walk/aircast ask given the okay to walk on your heal, go for it. You might just want to watch for swelling at this point in the healing process and remember to take time to put you foot up. Sounds like you are doing well.
Best wishes

I had bunion surgery.
Severe bunions!!
I was told that I could walk on the heel in two weeks with a cam walker.
One month after the first surgery, I had to have a whole new surgery!!!!!
A long story but I just about went out of my mind with the inactivity.
So, 6 weeks turned into three months.
The second bunion surgery. No matter what the surgeon advised, I took it extremely cautiously. I did not walk on the heel barely at all for the six weeks.
Bingo, a amazing recovery with the second bunion surgery.
Take it very cautiously.
My surgeon said the amazing healing with the second surgery was because "I am an excellent surgeon.". I said that it was because I was soooo cautious.
Be careful.
