I have been experiencing intermittent ankle pain. I have a history of a couple of sprains but nothing related to the type of pain I am feeling from time to time. I am 35 and I am still athletic. On occasion I have very sharp ankle pain in my right ankle. It is so sharp that I cannot walk and have to discontinue my activity. I don't feel any looseness or instability in the ankle, nor do I notice any swelling. The pain feels like it is bone rubbing against bone right at the bottom of my right ankle. Anyway, if I take 10 to 15 minutes and sit down and rotate my ankle back and forth it works itself out and I return to my activity with NO pain. This happens a couple of times a month. It is very aggravating, especially when it happens at a critical point in a game.

Anyone have any ideas?
