I read that "decolorized iodine" would help strengthen fingernails. Well....I talked to my pharmacist and he discouraged me from using this on my fngernails. His dad used it on his fingernails and it "killed the nailbed" and now his fingernails will not grow at all.

Thought I would share what I just learned from someone else's experience.

Needless to say I did not buy the decolorized iodine, don't need to kill the nail beds.

Thanks for the heads-up! Speaking of what we've been told by pharmacists, one told me that ointment absorbs into the skin more readily as opposed to the cream (even though cream may be less messy), and a pharmacist also said that for a multivitamin, to eat and then take the supplement as it should absorb more easily that way as well.

You are supposed to use the iodine ONLY on the tips. It is NOT to be used on the rest of the nail.
