I just posted this question on the ovarian cancer thread but maybe someone here can help me, so I can help my friend.
My friend just had her uterus, ovaries and some other things I don't know exactly removed because of cancer. That was on Friday and she is still at the ICU because her red blood cell counts are low and the doctor wants to give her transfusion(s).
She is totally freaked out and afraid of it.
Has anyone needed that and had any adverse effects?
Please help if you can.

Hi. My 3 year old daughter has had 3 blood transfusions in the past 7 months. She has cancer of the liver & lungs. She's had surgery & needed the blood. She never had any problems. The nurses always gave it to her slow, then waited in the room with her for an hour or so to make sure there were no reactions. Maybe it's different for adults, I'm not sure. Good luck.
