So, i'm 17 and there have been two times i had a bowel movement recently in which i saw this translucent, worm-like thing in the toilet. it's not actually in the stool, it's just in the toilet water it's clear, and kind of looks striped, like it's clear then darker (but still semi-opaque) then clear, darker, etc. it could just looked "striped" b/c of the lighting, i don't know. it's small, i'd say maybe an inch or a little less. i don't know if it's actually a worm or what. i don't even know if it actually came from me, maybe it was in the toilet already?
it kind of moves but i think it's just the water moving it. i have no other symptoms although i've had diarreah recently (but i think it's b/c i have my period). also, i've only seen it twice. it wasn't even two times in a row, like it happened once and then 2 days later i saw it again. what could this be? any cause for concern?

You should absolutely get in to see a doctor so they can get a stool sample. I'm not trying to scare you, but this is something that needs to be taken care of before you start having bad symptoms such as vomiting, severe diarrhea, and weight loss. Please call your doctor ASAP so you can get this taken care of.

Good Luck, and please keep us posted.

Eveningsun,
Go see a doctor. Absolutely! The sooner the better. Do you have any pets? Or, friends with pets that you have been around in the past couple weeks? I don't know if pets can share any of their illnesses with humans. I kind of think they can't but, just in case we can and you have been in contact with either your own pet or someone elses, perhaps you got something from a pet.

Anyway, call your doctor or have your parents call your doctor and explain exactly what you explained to this board and they will probably take you today! Don't delay because, you never know what that could be doing inside your body while you wait to figure it out. I too don't want to scare you but, sometimes fear is a great motivator.

Take care and keep in touch!
