I have been through sooooo many tests!! I just had a saliva test done and it showed high cortisol in the morning, and below normal from 10am to 10pm. I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me. I had a muslce biopsy done (barbaric!!) and it showed problems, but nothing that could be identified. I went to an ND and he ran the cortisol test. From what I am reading low cortisol levels explains almost all of my sypmtoms... except muscle pain... do any of you have problems with muscle pain?

I have been taking an adrenal glandular supplement off and on for about 4 yrs and I know I would be in bed if it weren't for that. I did have an cortisone stimulation test done and it showed that my adrenals are fine. When I asked the doc if the problem could be from what gives the adrenals the chemicals it needs to function... he fluffed me off... hense my reason for my own research.

I would greatly appreciate any input. I also eat a LOT of salt, drink a lot of gatoraide (diluted)... but still have problems with dehydration, have problems with hypoglycemia, brain fog, memory, digestion, etc.
Thankx Sherri

Doctors are very good at "fluffing off". The only thing I can tell you is that I have muscle pain too, especially in the legs. I know you've had tests but what do they say about thyroid levels? I have normal thyroid levels buy my primary doc did a 24 hour urine cortisol test and the level which was very low. He told me that my thyroid medicine needs cortisol in order to work properly, but he would prefer an endo doc treat me and schedule any other necessary tests. So far two endo docs told me that they don't believe that I'm hypothyroid. One made no comment about the cortisol, the other agreed that cortisol was low but he didn't think I needed treatment since I didn't show signs of cortisol insufficiency from his examination. He recommended an antidepressant, which I thought was idiotic.
I would suggest that you keep seeing endo docs until you find one that's "enlightened." Watch out for the Gatorade. Check out the potassium levels on the bottle. I read on other health websites that potassium can interfere with salt retention. This could be a sign of aldosterone insufficiency.

Thankx for the reply... yes, I've been told I need an antidepressant also!! I told them I WANT to do things I just CAN'T!! That is very different from depression! I am working with a new primary I am hoping she will help, but she looked cross eyed at me when I told her my cortisol levels were low. I am doing better now that I am on Prednisone. I need to have my potasium levels checked. I drink the gatoraid diluted so I don't get all the sugar. Just enough to flavor it a bit. I am searching for a good endo... anyone on this board from Oregon?? Any recommendations?
Sherri :)
