Hi Everyone,
I'm 31 and starting Lupron injections in 2 weeks for endometriosis. I'm pretty nervous and was wondering if anyone else has had them and what I could possibly expect. Thanks!!

I has 2 injections (3 months each) of Lupron. I was on it not for Endo but because I was anemic from bleeding from a fibroid and my ob/gyn wanted to stop the bleeding after he removed the fibroid so my body could recover and my blood count could be restored.
Overall, I liked being on it. I didn't have too many side effects like I have heard other people have. Guess it depends on each individual person. I had hot flashes and some weight gain but that's it. No headaches or moodiness.

i took it on 2 separate occasions for endo. the first time...the night sweats/hot flashes was bad....miserable. but i managed to get through it. it did help for 2 years. then the pain came back...so....i went for another round of lupron injections. OH MY MY.......i thought the night sweats/hot flashes were bad with the first one....but it was NOTHING compared to the second time. It was so bad that I discontinued the injections. NO sleep whatsoever...and didnt think that stuff was ever going to get out of my system!! The second one was done in summer time...thinkin...hey...Ill have the air on plus the ceilin fan.....so it wont be as bad...(since the last was done in the winter months when I had to have the heat on).....it didnt matter.......I would have had to freeze everyone out of the house in order to be comfortable myself!! I had small kids at the time....so I had no choice but to suffer instead of turning the air way down! The first time was a lower dose of lupron..the second was a higher dose..which is why it was so much worse. i have found with me....the more often i have sex..the more i suffer during that time of the month......the less i have sex.....the better. it has made our sex lives almost non-existant...id rather go 2-3 months without sex...than to have to suffer with the pain every month! if i dont have sex at all.....no pain at all. hate to suggest it.....but i would try that to see if it makes a difference in your case. but as far as the injections.......the only complaint i had was the hot flashes/night sweats....which as i said....was horrible. if it werent for that....id say it was a miracle drug!

Hi! Thanks for the reply. Sounds like you had a terrible time with the hot flashes. I start my first injection next week which means I'll be on this for the whole summer so it should be interesting.....My husband and I aren't having sex much these days anyway(hurts for days after if we do) so these injections are a last resort for me other then a hysterectomy. Wish me luck!!

Hello,
I was just diagnosed with severe endo. I have to make the decision to take hormones or hysterctomy. I am only 28, have one two year old and married. I am trying to find out as much info as i can regarding endo before I decide to have a hysterecomy. My question is, are there other reasons besides wanting to have children, that women decide not to have the hysterectomy? The side effects and pain of hormones and medicines seems to really push me towards a hysterectomy.

i just finished a 6 month round of lupron and had no troubles what so ever. the hotflashes were annoying but not altering my life. I wasnt on for endo either just fo pelvic pain we didnt know what it was and rather then sugery to find out doc thought this route was better first and omg i never felt better pain wise while i was on it. Little afraid now if my pain will come back.

declansmom...personally, i am scared of hormone therapy..with the cancer risks that it causes. my cousin just passed away christmas day from cancer...due to being on hormone medication. HOWEVER...she was on the same kind for 20 years...and they say that no one should take it for more than 5 years....dont ask..idk why they kept her on it that long or why they didnt change it.
i am personally contemplating hysterectomy myself..i havent recently discussed it with my dr....but i have noticed within the last 3 months that the endo pain has come back...since my last lap surgery 3 years ago....i have already had 3 lap surgeries and lupron injections over the last 12 years...and i just really dont want to keep havin the lap done every 2-3 years....so if he would do the hysterectomy...that may be the route that i take this next time. since i cant get pg again...and dont want to get pg again...i think thats my best option. PLUS...over the last 2 years...i have had problems with pap smears showing severe cervical dysplasia..so..ive also had to have procedures done to get rid of it...nevermind havin to go for a pap every 3 months! UGH! it just aint worth it to me to have to keep going through all of this between the endo and dysplasia. hope this helps you some in your decision making.

Thank you for the advice.
I am just confused as to what to do. my camps and pain are just so unbearable sometimes i think I could die.
Please keep me updated on your Lupron injections. That is one drug my Dr mentioned and I am curious if it works.
Best of luck and I wish you painfree symptoms!!
