This is in no way directed as a racist comment.

But why do different cultures have different smells? Everybody has their own unique smell. Blacks, indians, chinese, white. Whats going on?! I know that the stench is caused by sweat mixing with bacteria on your skin, and our bodies dont create bacteria so its either (a) we genetically produce a specific kind of sweat which reacts different w/ the bacteria or (b) sweat is unique between races and this diversity causes different variations of the same bacteria to gather on specific people.

Ive also heard that diet has something to do with it and while that might be a minor contributer to smell, i doubt thats what causes the difference in our actual stink. Not every Indian has a regular dose of curry but to the best of my knowledge, everyone ive met has a certain degree of that unique smell they have.

I'm pretty sure it's directly related to diet. Different areas of the world cook with different spices and use different methods, and that leads to major differences in body odor.

Also, America is kind of "obsessive" about cleanliness. Many places don't worry about hygene nearly as much as we do.
