My good friend of 13 years has just been diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma. He's only 30 and long story short has no insurance. (Stupid I know! But we're past that...) He's overwhelmed and completely discouraged. He's already working on Medical which he's found takes 6-8months before he can receive benefits and County Medical Services. We're in the San Diego area...anyone have ANY SUGGESTIONS about free treatment/care or what we can do to get help???? Maybe someone knows about grants or companies willing to sponsor people or....??? I'll do all the legwork - any help or suggestions are appreciated. No idea is a silly one!

I really dont know a whole lot about all of this..my husband just got diagnosed with Stave IV lung cancer and it is only been a month...but maybe you could look into clinical trials.
My husband's oncologist mentioned clinical trials and if you are accepted, everything is included tests drugs even chemo in correlation with the trial. I too live in CA and she was mentioning UCLA but I am sure there are other hospital/centers that run trials...
There is also City of Hope in Duarte. They run trials there as well....

Been down the same road with my daughter. At age 23 she had a malignant tumor removed from here thigh and had to have radiation after. Then MRI's every 3 months and still does. She is now 28. Also no insurance and she had to file for a loan with the county. The only thing I can tell you is there are grants out there. Do a ****** on Patient Advocate programs and you might find something. Also free treatment for cancer. He needs to go to county hospitals and treatment facilities as much as possible because they can not force him to pay. Good luck I am so sorry. Our government will pay welfare out constantly to people who don't really need it but don't help the sick. My daughter had to file for SSD because of the surgery and then a followup surgery to implant a rod into her femor bone that was destroyed by the radiation she is deemed disabled. she is waiting 3 years later. Wish I could help more. At least you are there for your friend, I know he appreciates you.
