That sounds like Acid Reflux to me. I think there is a forum on this board for Acid Reflux. But, in the mean time, I can tell you how I control mine. I would have an attack maybe once or more a month for a week at a time until I went on a low carb diet. Now, the only time I have an acid reflux attack is when my diet slips for more than a day or two. Try cutting back on pastas, breads, spicey foods and any red foods like sauces for pastas or mexican foods.
I am not one of those holistic people who refuses to take anything harsher than an asperin but, I will never take Acid Reflux meds like Prilosec again. You need acid for the health of your body and those meds kill the acid. If you want to treat your acid reflux, use natural suppliments found in herbal stores. I think the brand I have used is called Nature's Sunshine. You might do a search on it. Basically you need something with enzymes. One of the blends I used is called Intestinal Soothe and Build. But, what I started to say about the acid thing and the meds that basically eliminate the acids was that, it isn't the acid that is the problem. There is a valve in your stomach that is supposed to regulate how much acid is released into your esophagus (I think that is how it works). And, for some of us, that valve doesn't close properly so, we get a build up and it burns our esophagus. That is the lump that you feel and the feeling like you are choking, can't swallow and maybe even some nausea. It is important to get it under control but not to eliminate the acids entirely.
Anyway, the best thing that I have found to control it is a low carb diet. In fact, when I was looking into the low carb diet, I did it for weight control but read that most people who have gone on the diet who may also have suffered from Acid Reflux found relief either partial or complete. I found it complete to a point where I didn't have an attack for more than a year after I started the diet until I slipped on the diet and kind of let it fall for a bit. Back came that horrible Reflux. As long as I stick to it, I have zero acid reflux issues.
I hope this helps! Take care and keep in touch!
