I also had a septorhinoplasty, I should note.

It's post-op day 4. Every thing I try to eat, ends up in my nose. It does not feel good. I tried different textures of food, and still ends up in my nose. Anyone else having this problem, or is there something really wrong with me?

No one knows?

So I went to the ER this morning because I just couldn't swallow anything. They gave me a shot of Decadron which relieved the pain and swelling for a good 10 hours. (That was a nice break.) But was surprised to find out I still couldn't swallow once I got home. Then I realized it was because the food was getting stuck in the big, gaping holes in my throat, then getting swept into my sinuses. I just have to eat slower, push the food to the right (smaller incision), and push it back past the surgical sites if possible. Then it can go down, but still with great difficulty.

Anyone know how long this will last? Please tell me it gets better. Still having trouble tasting things too. I can taste sweet stuff, but everything else tastes very bland or tasteless. Which is heartbreaking, because I really love to eat.

Has anyone else gone through this before?

I didn't have any problems with food going up my nose but water/fluids sure did. It was due to the swelling and muscle weakness. Nothing goes all the way up my nose now but I do feel it start heading that way but it eventually goes down.

Hopefully it will pass for you soon.

could you temporise by drinking Sustogen or some other liquid diet for a while?
