My 15 year old daughter has been very thirsty for the last six weeks. Last night she was up at least five times because of her mouth being so dry. She is drinking water excessively all day long. We are on vacation right now and she is so tired that she can't stop sleeping (point of vacation being that she was so excited for the trip and if she could get up to go somewhere she would). She has these intermittent stomach pains-either constricting or nausea. I am new to this sight and ANY input would be greatly appreciated.

Diabetes makes people thirsty, and can affect people with fatigue. Diabetes 2 is comes on after birth, and can be discovered by a simple blood test, or using a blood monitor. In any case your daughter should be seen by your family doctor.

Thanks for the input. I plan on taking her to the doctor. Any advice on how to make her comfortable for the next week?

Hi Coleen, is there no doctor where you are that could see her on an emergency basis? I dont want to scare you but diabetes can be very serious depending on the type and it could lead to a diabetic coma if not teated quickly.

Colleen, I agree with xant, there is a good possibility of diabetes and you should not wait a week to see a Doctor. If it is Type 1 it can progress very quickly and become an emergency situation. If there is no Doctor available where you are take her to emergency. Mandy.
