Hello everyone. I am on Day 4 of my tonsillectomy recovery and everything seems to be going well so far.
My pain has increased slightly today which I was expecting but I just have a question about the wound site.
What should it look like? I thought it should be white but mine is more of a creamy colour - and very thick - is this normal? I'm just worried there may be an infection brewing.
I appreciate any replies and good luck to everyone else who is recovering!

I'm on day 10 of my tonsillectomy and I think your right on track. looking at mine back on day 5ish, they were a creamy white color, and looked very thick. As time has progressed, and the scabs have fallen off, new ones form, I would say they have fallen off twice now and each time they look less thick and now some pink is showing through.
I'm no doctor, but I would think they would look a light greenish color if they were infected. Just keep taking your anti-botic, expect some bleeding when the scabs fall off, and drink lots of water!

Hi Jazzy
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I didn't think they were infected but cos over here in UK we are not given antibiotics I just wanted to check the creamy colour was normal!
I'm not sure why we don't get antibiotics.
Also we have to eat hard and scratchy food from Day 1. Not sure what that's all about but I do believe it's really helped keep my pain at a minimum. Mind you I'm only on Day 5.
I am drinking about 5 pints (100 fl oz?)of ice water a day which is helping a lot too.
Anyway I'm rambling - must be the meds! Thanks again for your reply and good luck with rest of your recovery.

Your scabs have a milky/creamy white color. As well as a rough texture in appearance. If your scabs/wounds had turned septic you would be sporting a fever greater than 101 and would have weeping from the wound site.
Sincerely,
