View Full Version : QUESTION: Taste loss, how long before noticed?

Just had surgery yesterday - so far no loss of taste (although salt is very pronounced now). Did those of you that have experienced a loss of taste notice it instantly or did it develop during the healing process?

Thanks in advance for any info provided...

In my case, I noticed instantly. As soon as I woke up, I asked for water, and it tasted funny. I'm a little different though, because I can taste sweet stuff. Considering that my diet is currently applesauce and popsicles, it's not that noticeable until try to eat something else. But yes, it was definitely something I noticed right off the bat.

DiveDown -
I also had a very pronounced salt taste in my mouth almost all the time. Sweet even tasted salty. I guess that went on for a couple of weeks but as for when I noticed it, I don't know exactly.

I still don't want anything salty even now.

I didn't experiance much of any taste loss - only that certain things stung when I ate them for a while.

I hope things get better!

Good luck!
