How long does a sore throat hurt when people complain of sore throat due to hiv. Do you get like a choking and painful feeling or some lumps show up??

there is no real answer for that because everyone is different
symtoms can't tell you anything only getting tested will give you a definate answer.
when i got infected i had alot more then a sore throat wrong with me and my ex who infected me had no symptoms at all.

One more question... you know that white stuff that shows up on the tongue.. does it show up jsut as u get infected or later when u catch opportunistic diseases when u cross into AIDS?? i have this weird whitish.. stuff at the back of my tongue.. i dont know if i never noticed it.. i think i would have.. and this constant choking. I'm almost thinking i have tumour or cancer... my thyroid is hard adn i feel something is choking me. although my tests for thyroid came out okay.

As far as I know I'm negative. I'm still waiting. I should know by Tuesday or WEdnesday. I'm also thinking it's just some yeast that developed, which can happen. There's been a lot of sore throats around me, today I learned of a
5th person with a sore throat so I'm thinking it's just a bad infection that will go away b/c I'm starting to feel better just that my throat is still swollen. I dont have any of those "bumps" from swollen lymph nodes. Just the glands underneath the chin and on the side (more right side) my muscles feel achy. And the only thing with my throat, as I'm starting to feel it's not all that sore just feel like I'm choking - perhaps due to the swelling. I did NOT have any fever or sweating. Just some loss of appetite. I kinda felt a swelling where my spleen would be. Had some cold shivers maybe 3 times out of the 2 weeks. Then again I've been very stressed out and not sleeping or eating properly. And my tongue, I never really looked at it but you know when you eat something spicy, or drink carbonated drinks your tongue develops bacteria if not washed off properly and this "fungus" thing happens or yeast. Which goes away. I dont usually eat sweets, or drink soda, or eat spicy but had such craving for it this month.

I hope this is what it is. I hope I'm not positive. but I will find out this week.

the weirdest hting just happened.. whatever is choking me in my throat or the swelling of it.. just moved from my right side to my left. the swelling is right in the area of my thyroid. but its not thyroid b/c she tested me for it adn it came out negative.

Your mouth is sensitive to no end of infections and horrible things.

What you are describing is oral thrush, many people get this. Many people who are not HIV positive. As been pointed out to you already symptoms are never an indicator of your HIV status but oral thrush, although it is one of the symptoms of a primary HIV infection is not exclusive to HIV. There are many, many reasons for this to occur.

I am negative; I was tested negative over three weeks ago after a year of dread and fear. I still have a sore throat, I still have a horrible looking white tongue, but I still smoke, maybe I should quit.

I think I will find out tomorrow. The tongue thing i think it's just yeast. I started eating more yogurt which as active bacteria which eats fungus/yeast off of your tongue. I also brush my teeth more often and it helped.

But still the unexplained swollen throat near my thyroid. finding myself to be more gassy too.. but then again I'm about to get my period. ******* holidays just delay everything!
