Dear Allllllllllllllllll,

As I'm now waiting my third test results after 4.5 months to possible exposure, I was wanting to know if anyone can clarify the difference between the 3 month to the 6 month window period. Even the Dr.s have a difference of opinion, does it possibly depend on where you are in the world?
If 3 months is definitive, then what is 6 months? Or I just keep getting tested every 3 months for 12 months. When even the medical team cant give me an answer, who do you turn too?

The Brilliant Healthboard panel of course.

From what I understand, after 3 months it's pretty much definitive if you are infected with the hiv virus.

thanks for the reassurance, but why the suggested 6 month period which differs from doctor to doctor, country to country.

Thanks for helping me ease my worry warts, not that there are any warts!

I think it's because there is very small percentage of people that sero-convert (produce hiv antibodies) after 3 months. I think at 3 months it's pretty much difinitive if you have hiv or not.
