Hi to everyone,

My name is jo and my mum has lung cancer which has spread to the bone. She was diagnosed on 1st Feb 07 after 4 months of back & shoulder paid which the doctors kept telling her she had pull a musscle on her breast bone. Finally after much shouting she was sent for a scan which showed the real cause for all her pain. She has undergone radiotherapy which did nothing & now she is half way through chemo, but her side effects are so bad they have taken her into hospital again today to undergo more tests? will have to wait and see.

I wish I could help you... my husband is in about the same situation..
dx just mid March... NSCLC and in bones and prob at least one lymph node according to CT scan... we were told
"terminal" . "inoperable", "incurable"...only getting radiation to shrink tumor that is blocking an airway... just 10 treatments...
then will do chemo if he wants..but was told just pallative..but still have to weigh quality of life issues...if we get that far
he isnt doing very well right now....missed last two radiation treatmnts...

if it is outside the lung...I dont think alot can be done to cure... and if by some chance it goes into remission...the odds are high it will come back...
have read that the second time it doesnt respond to chemo as well either and even if they make it through the first time...prob wont the second...
that is why the 5 yr rates are so low.....
not trying to be a bummer but just trying to be realistic... of course there are always exceptions...i have read some amazing stories...
odds are better if the person has never smoked.... etc etc

Drs can only go by history...individuals are different... I hope that your mom beats the odds! Good luck to you! I am sorry I could not be of any help

thank you for making contact she has non-small cell, that has encased one whole lung (front, side & back) and has attached to the rib bone and from there spread into the bone structures. She is back in hospital at the moment and undergoing more scans, x-rays, they think it has now appreard in the bowel?
