Firstly thank you to the responses to my first posting on this board it is much appreciated.

I have some questions and since I will be seeing my rheumatologist on the 24th I want to get them all straight before I see him. It always helped me when dealing with my infertility treatment to have the questions written down before I saw my specialist.

Firstly what is the difference between prednisone and methotrexate?
Can you be on prednisone and be pregnant? I know you can’t with methotrexate.
My doc hasn’t done a biopsy as he doesn’t think it will show I have Polymyositis but still he says I have it. Is this normal?
What does the Jo-1 antibodies have to do with anything? I have that but don’t yet understand what it means.
How long do you have to be on the meds to get to remission? My doc wants me to go on methotrexate for a year. This seems a very long time to me and I don’t understand why I can’t be on meds for as long or hopefully as short a time as it takes for me to get better.

Having spent a number of years on an infertility board I know how comforting and educational a board of people who have the same problems can be so thank you in advance for your expertise and help. I also wanted to say how, as I am reading the stories here, I find the human sprit amazing. Thank you.:)
