Does anyone have any advise on how to deal with Hep C? I'm following a strict diet & trying to be healthy and im in the early stages and am waiting for my initial test to come back to see if i can flush it out of my system? I'm in a remote part of the country where there doesn't seem to be much support out there & I don't really know anyone else with the disease?? and I feel clueless & naive??? Is there anyone out there that can help or offer any information?? My test result was high positive...By the way i have never taken drugs in my life & the only way it could have been contracted would have been a blood transfusion or possibly an international trip ive taken but nothing obvious. I'm very clean & have good hygiene practices & can't understand how this could have happened....

It's a scary thing. Trust me, I know. I fortunately haven't had positive test results on the viral load yet.. but i know i was exposed. I was exposed through my hemophllia medication. I also apparently contracted hep b and my body fought that off. I'm very lucky so far in that regard.
As a veteran of bad situations and circumstances in life, my best advice I can give you is to percevere. In my life i'd discovered I can either let my health problems dominate my life and thereby ruin it and esentially die, or I can live with them and continue.
As far as hep advice, I don't have much. Contact a specialist, get your tests you need done, watch your diet, don't drink alcohol, try not to take tylenol or any other pain killers or acetominophine or basically anything that gets metabolized by your liver. Exercise. Be healthy, but definitely als be well informe, that will help with your mental health. See a therapist if you think you need to at all, trust me it will help.
Best of luck, my heart really goes out to you.
And i'll also add that it's a damn shame you had so many people view your posts and i'm the only one to reply.

You are in the right place to get informed. There are a lot of people on here that are well informed. Start doing your own research. Basically there are three strains of hep c in the U.S. they call them geneotypes. I am sure I spelled that wrong. That is a good place to start I think. Basically your geneotype will, somewhat anyway, determine how long you would have to treat if you chose to do so, what your possible sucess rates would be if you treated, and how long you might have to treat also depending on your liver status and how you react to the treatment. I just got done treating. What was really sad is that in a whole room full of patients no one even knew what geneotype they were and did understand anything about it. Stupidity and bad business on the doctor's part if you ask me. Yes avoid smoking, alcohol, fatty foods, drugs, only take ibroproferen if needed, and maintain a healthy life style and most people who do that actually die with hep c instead of because of hep c. You can take a few daily supplements that seem to help like milk thistle and possibly a fish oil and daily vitamen. I forget which ones you don't want in your daily vitimen so do the research before getting them. Good luck. The best thing is to use your computer to learn about what you have. Good luck.
