Elev8edLFTs

Since I can remember my glands have swollen up to abnormal size and caused a lot of problems for me, in August 2006 they nearly choked me and I was put on a lot of medication. After blood tests to see if I had mono I was told my LFT's were extremely elevated and to see a liver specialist. At least once a month my glands/tonsils/adnoids swell to crazy size and I get ear infections like most people get a runny nose. Long story short my glands are swollen again and have not gone down for almost 2 weeks now, they have continued to get worse and my enzymes have gone up, coincidence?

Anyhoo I went to my primary who had an MRI done and concluded that my adnoids and tonsils are swollen, duh, and that there is a sac of fluid in my jugular (sp?)...that has to do with an upper respiratory infection, strange thing is that when the whole thing started in Aug that was what they assumed was going on but could never diagnose me. I have an emergency appointment with an ENT on Friday and they mentioned something about him using a needle to extract the fluid? Possibly doing surgery? Anyone know about this needle thing?

I'm scared to be perfectly honest, don't know if anyone's ever gone through something like this or has any advice but anything, even an "it'll be okay" would be helpful. I appreciate any comments.

Thanks

I hate to hear of your problems with this. I know you must be dreadfully uncomfortable. It sounds like they wanna do needle aspiration. I had a similar (well maybe not so) experience last year. After a right hemicolectomy they found 3 abscesses. Typical protocol is to drug you a bit and try to aspirate the infections with a needle through the abdomen. Call me a wuss, but there isn't enough drugs for that for me. Demarol was all they had given me and I was still very awake. I made them stop (actually screamed at them to) and made them do surgery to remove them. If you get a choice, make them put you under to do anything similar. It is very uncomfortable otherwise. I know some people do better with these things as my brother in law went through the same procedure for a biopsy, but I just could not lay there and do it. I wish you the best of luck with this and hopefully you find some very well deserved relief soon. Please keep in touch with how things progress.
