The antioxidant mineral selenium was associated with a nine per cent decrease in all-cause mortality in a study published this year in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Vitamin E and Selenium are being followed currently in a long study of prostate cancer, by the way. Too much Selenium can be bad, so don't take too much.

Can't answer your question directly, but according to the NIH,
"Selenomethionine is generally considered to be the best absorbed and utilized form of selenium. . . This form of selenium was used in the large scale cancer prevention trial in 1983, which demonstrated that taking a daily supplement containing 200 micrograms of selenium per day could lower the risk of developing prostate, lung, and colorectal cancer."
Because of this study, most manufacturers make tablets of 200 mcg. If you take it, then it might be a good idea to avoid eating too many Brazil nuts, which can have as much as 544 mcg per ounce. Other foods that have selenium have much less than 100 mcg.
