I have just recently developed an allergic reaction to plasters does anyone know of an alernative. I've seen spray on plasters but I don't know if they are any good.

I'd never really thought about it before but since coming here I have seen that this is a fairly common allergy. You might want to try a nostick pad wrapped with Coban, it's a sort of wrap that sticks to itself but not to your skin. It's also available as a generic.

What on earth is a "plaster?"

I believe a plaster in the UK is the samething as a bandaid in the US. Allergies to the adhesives in bandaids is common for those with contact dermatitus and exzyma.

I am allergic to the emulsifier in the adhesives. **sigh**

Oh, well, there are some non-allergenic paper tapes available to use with a gauze pad. That's what I use. I also find the fabric bandaids are not as bad as the plastic ones.

I have allergies to the adhesives in bandaids also. I had a bandaid on for several hours 1 1/2 weeks ago and I still have part of the rash it left behind. For minor cuts, I can currently tolerate the liquid bandages, but they aren't nearly as good as the liquid glue treatments you can get at the doctors' office. For me, the 3-M brand used to be OK, but recently I found I can't use them either. I am planning on trying the paper bandages next time. They were recommended by my pharmacist when I asked last week. My doctor just told me to avoid bandages if I can.

I would love to hear if you find a solution that works for you.

I tried micropore tape but that gave me a rash so i'm not sure if that is the same thing as coban but i'll search it and see what I find. Thanks for replying if I find anything i'll let you know.

I don't think it is...Coban is not a tape. No adhesive. When I chopped the end of my thumb off a couple of weeks ago, it was a godsend.

ill look into sounds expencive though. I had a fabric plaster on today i just tried it to see if that was any better and it was fine but I didn't have it on aslong as the others.

I bought the store brand at Wal-Mart and it was about the same cost as Band Aids. Hopefully you'll come up with something. Good luck.
