Hello, I am new here so please let me begin with an introduction..I am a 49 year old with no medical problems. so I am told... I have my blood tested every six months to monitor my cholestoral and been on cholestoral medication for 3 years. My cholestoral is under control with diet and excersise also ,but somedays I just dont feel 100%. Ive been tested for diabetes, allergies and heart problems and everything is normal,so I am told. My Lightheaded and wozzy sensations stared a couple of years ago and I also have this never ending ringing in my ears, the ear specilast told me that I suffer from inner ear nerve damage. Somedays are fine but other days I still get that wierd type of sensation... Does anyone out there experience the same thing..?? I dont know whats wrong with me,and I cant get any answers from my Doctor. I am kinda scared sometimes because its starting to controll my life a little bit. Does anyone have some advise for me,maybe I am missing something that should be looked at.......Thank-You for listing to my problems...::

i am not sure i am in the same boat although i feel i have a self diagnosis. if you have nerve damage admitted through a doctor i would tell them you need to at least rule that out as the problem. i keep telling my husband if i go to another appt where they tell me they don't know what is wrong with me i am going to handcuff myself to a chair and refuse to leave until i have a diagnosis!!! the dizziness does interfer with your life and that sucks but not much you can do with it? I wonder if it is not an inner ear thing if they could at least provide you with some meclizine to help you cope. i would tell your doctor this is a big issue for you so they don't try to sweep your concern under the rug. hope that helps...

meclizine is an antivert that is used to control dizziness vertigo and nausea caused by inner ear disorders at least that is what the bottle says lol!!I had to stop taking it though cause I was taking past the period recommended (1-2 weeks) as it interfers with compensation (I took it for 4 weeks been off it since monday) watch out though as my doc never told me that it should only be for 2 weeks....

Hello Charlotte67, It is very fustrating after countless of doctor visits and the only conclusion they tell you is that this is the way its going to be from now on so get used to it. Here in Canada to book any appointments with any ear specilasts you are required to get a referal from your G/P, then you are put on a waiting list. It took me 6 months to see him for a brief hearing test and a few wise words, which took a total time of 10 minutes. He tells me my dizzyness and lightheaded " Wozzy " feeling has nothing to do with my hearing..... " Wow so Ive been wrong all along ".....then he tells me to come back in 6 months and he will monitor my hearing again, also my buzzing is due hearing damage due to the lack of protection from excessive noise.........I didnt think day to day noises, such as regular day to day activities from life can damage your hearing. I guess that is why he is a doctors and I am not...............Anyway thank you to everyone for your feedback.........and I will keep everyone updated after my next visit...... 6 months from now....if I dont loose my place in line....

George..I would get a second opinion...if you can. Yours sounds like inner ear crap.
Honestly, you can get tinnitus from vestibular damage...
I am sorry you are having to deal with all this.

Hello again Charlotte67, what exactly is vestibular damage..?? is this the inner ear nerve...?? I get a little scared and worried some times when I expereince these symptons....I am not used to these bizzare sensations...There is no family history of ear disorders, that I know of....After reading this forum I am very suprized by how many people are effected by this so called set back in our lives....I cannot imagine what it would feel like to have vertigo, like many people in this forum go through. I feel sorry for those individuals..and I hope that no one else has to experience this tramatic experience in there lifes. I am fortunate that my symptons are only minor, for now...........Thank-You for listening......

George...glad you are not dizzy, don't apologize. Vestibular damage is to our vestibular (balance) nerve. I know many who have had that nerve damaged get tinnitus. I had a virus that hit my vestibular nerve and made me dizzy, I did not get tinnitus.
I would check out your ears and check to see if there is anything additional that they can do. Also, plenty on this site deal with tinnitus...I would post asking for ideas!!
All the best mate!
