It depends on what they're doing. I had mine done on March 15, bruised badly under my right eye, but went back to work on March 27, with a little makeup no one could tell. I also had an open procedure that takes longer to heal, and like I said no one knew, they thought I had gone on vacation. By one week after the procedure you should be fine, keep icing even after they tell you, you don't have too. It helps with the swelling. Good luck. Hope this helped.

i'm sure it'd be "open" the tip and i have a bump, so longer to heal but still that's amazing you could go back to work so soon! i don't mind putting on makeup etc, i do anyways. it's just severe bruising i couldn't explain. anyways, thanks :)

I explained the bruising to people who didn't know I had the surgery by telling them that I walked into a door and broke my nose, and had to have surgery. The people who care about me knew what I did, but the public I deal with didn't need to know my personal imformation. They all were okay with the explaination about the bruising. Maybe it's better that they see the bruising, because I'm sure they will notice the difference. Just be discrete about who you tell, if your self-conscious. If not, tell the world, who cares anyway, as long as you're happy. It often helps to get a new hair style to divert attention, also the swelling will take a while to go down, so your nose will not look as small, or much different at first, as the swelling gradually goes down, after 3 months, nobody will notice the difference. I worked with a guy who had a big nose job done, he grew a beard and changed his hair style and no one knew what he did, they just thought he looked great. After a month he shaved his beard and no one ever guessed. I did because I knew what he was doing. I didn't care, I was happy for him, he looked wonderful. Ask me anything, I had mine done and just revised because of a lump that developed on the tip after 11 years. Both times I was able to go out after a week, just keep icing with cold gauze pads soaked in ice water and after the remove the splint, keep icing and use bacitracin or neosporin on the scars, I use the neosporin+pain relief, this numbed the scabs, for over three weeks, even after the scars healed, I applied it with a Q-tip. And remember not to pick at the nose for a long time, use Q-tips, as the surgeons may not tell you but it can distort the outcome, be a gentle as possible with it and sleep, sleep, sleep on your back.

the haircut idea fits perfectly because I was just thinking about how I need a new style!
but you said a lump developed? why is that? is that common :dizzy:
and this question might seem odd but I'm a redhead with sensitive skin, is this going to have any effect on my skin?

Sorry, don't be alarmed I had a lump from the cartlidge, no one noticed but me. I had to go and have a tiny piece cartlidge removed after 11 years. Your skin will stay beautiful after the initial swelling goes down about one week to ten days. Just make sure your very specific with what you want. Don't assume the surgeon can read your mind. Good Luck!
